'My 600-lb Life' star Sean Milliken dies at 29

On Sunday, Sean Milliken, a star of TLC’s “My 600-lb Life,” passed away at the age of 29. His father was the one who broke the news.

In a post on Facebook, Milliken’s father explained that his son had been taken to hospital with an infection before suffering complications and dying.

Sean Milliken was known for appearing on the on the weight-loss reality series, “My 600-lb Life.” He featured in one episode in 2016.

His father shared the news in a touching post on Facebook where he explained that Milliken had been admitted to the hospital a few days earlier to be treated for an infection. However, due to unspecified complications, he passed away over the weekend.

Milliken’s father wrote, “Sunday he was having problems with his breathing, they were able to resuscitate him and a short time later his heart stopped.” The reality star’s father described him as a "good man" with a "good heart."

The star had moved to Houston, Texas and he was waiting to qualify for weight-loss surgery by the show’s surgeon, Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. His heaviest weight was 900 pounds and he was the biggest person ever to be featured on the TLC show.

The network paid tribute to him on Tuesday via Twitter writing:

"TLC is saddened to share that Sean Milliken has passed away. Viewers first met Sean in 2016 on My 600-lb. Life when he weighed over 900-lbs. Over the course of his weight loss journey, he victoriously lost over 400-lbs."

The statement concluded, "TLC expresses its deepest sympathies to Sean’s friends and family at this difficult time.” Milliken's friend and neighbor, Ashley Boone, remembered him as a "special guy."

She also described him further saying:

“He was definitely a loner and kept to himself but once you knew him he opened up and showed his witty side. He was extremely funny, artistic and kind.”

On the show, Milliken had explained that he began eating a lot as a child to make himself feel better about his relationship with his father. Later on, he blamed himself for his parents’ divorce, which added on to his eating disorder.

When he reached high school he already weighed more than 400 lbs. On the show, the reality star said: “I felt like it was my fault, I felt like my family had fallen apart because of me.”

His mother and caregiver, Renee, reportedly died not long before him.

Boone took to Facebook to post a more in-depth tribute on her friend. She honored Milliken's for his thoughtfulness and generosity and asked TLC fans to respect for his memory and his family during this turbulent time.

The star's friend wrote:

"Sean was a good man and life isn’t always as it seems on a television screen. Remember that. Please keep their family in your prayers. I believe Sean is at peace now without the struggles he faced here on earth."
