Idris Elba Reveals How He Landed Royal DJ Role at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding

Idris Elba, one of the most influential actors in recent times, told Ellen DeGeneres how he got the DJ gig at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.

During a segment of the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the host asked Idris if he was really the DJ in the Royal wedding, to what the actor said yes. Ellen was shocked, and Idris told the story of how it happened.

First, the man revealed that he and Harry have “hung out a couple of times” thanks to Prince Charles charity named the "Prince’s Trust," which helped him as a young actor.

TELLING HOW HARRY ASKED HIM TO DJ

As a way to pay back, Idris do a lot of work with people related to the charity, and that includes Princes William and Harry. Apart from that, the actor revealed that Harry has gone to “a couple” of parties he has DJed.

One day, Harry contacted him and asked, “hey, man, what are you doing on the date [May 19, 2018]?” When Idris said he wouldn’t do anything, Harry asked, “would you DJ at my wedding?”

Idris thought the Prince was joking, but he ended up being the DJ of one of the most important weddings of the decade.

DIGGING INTO HIS CAREER

The actor has been very busy lately as he has been promoting his upcoming Netflix series titled “Turn Up Charlie.” The show addressed the life of a 40-year-old DJ who tries his best to become a recognized name in the music industry.

Even if Charlie can’t make it big, Idris did it already as he told Ellen that he would DJ at Coachella, too. The man has proved that not only he is a good actor, but also a skilled MC.

JOKING IN MOROCCO

Recently, Harry and Meghan were at Morocco as part of their latest Royal engagement, and they made some headlines, as usual. This time, it was a joke that the Duke of Sussex made that attracted a lot of attention.

While the couple was at a girl’s school, a lady congratulated Meghan on her pregnancy. Right after the Duchess thanked her, Harry turned to her and said, “what, you’re pregnant?”

Meghan smiled, placed her hand in Harry’s back, and said, “surprise!” making the entire room laugh. The man then pretended to be surprised and asked, “is it mine?” and people kept laughing.

Even though most people got that it was a joke, some others complained about it saying that it was disrespectful and that no man should question if they are the fathers of their wives’ children.
