Talent and beauty run in the Norwood family, and Brandy’s teenage daughter, Sy’rai Iman Smith, is the living proof of that. Brandy recently left her fans in awe after sharing a clip of her daughter showing off her amazing vocal skills.

Brandy Norwood is a proud mom, and she can’t stop gushing about her talented daughter.

The singer recently took to Instagram to share a short video of Sy’rai performing a cover of Shontelle’s “Impossible” while playing the acoustic guitar, and fans can’t believe how much the girl sounds like her famous mom.

Although the clip only features half of Sy’rai’s face, her voice is loud and clear as she hits all the right notes and sings with passion, showing off strong vocals and control just like her mom. “C A P @syraismith #SyraisMomma,” Norwood captioned the clip.

Fans took over the comment section to praise the teenager and show her their support if she ever decides to follow Brandy’s steps into the music industry. “Go, girl! Like mother, like daughter,” wrote one user.

Another added, “First off TELL HER; she is lit ugh!!!! Reminds me of you in the 90s all over yes Syrai!” and a third one chimed in to say,

“Those vocals are so strong and rich!!!! I love that baby girl has been paying attention to her mama!!! We’re ready for her to slay us!!!”

Although Sy’rai is yet to announce an official break into the industry, a few years ago Brandy teased her talent on an interview with People, stating that although her daughter loved to sing and spend a lot of time on it, she didn’t want to lead her down that path yet.

“She’s [Sy’rai] into her school work and her education, but singing is all she does, watching videos and making up routines. I see the signs, but I want her to hold on a little longer and have a regular childhood.”

Sy’rai not only is beautiful and talented, but she’s also smart, thoughtful and kind.

Last year, the 16-year-old made an Instagram live to talk with other girls her age where she tackled on an important topic: self-love.

Brandy shared a clip where Sy’rai can be seen confessing that, although she is “bigger than most kids,” she learned to love herself for who she truly is.

“I can’t do anything about my past, and I can’t wish that I was somebody else. Being who you are should be more important than worrying about what you look like on the outside,” the wise teenager stated.

Syrai also stressed that beauty transcends the body “because there can be a beautiful person in a beautiful body, but in the inside, you can be so ugly.”

And added:

“Don’t change because other people are saying, ‘You’re a big girl, you’re fat, you’re this, you’re that.’ Don’t change because of what they say, change because you want to change. Don’t ever let anybody else tell you who you are.”

Brandy has done a fantastic job raising Sy’rai to be an independent girl with her convictions and beliefs. Now, fans of the singer are hoping for the girl to continue her legacy and break records, just like Norwood did once.
