“This is how the story goes: A young pregnant wife has been hospitalized for a simple attack of appendicitis,” he shared, revealing the reason why he might not have been born.

“The doctors had to apply some ice on her stomach and when the treatments ended, the doctors suggested that she abort the child”, he said.

Bocelli continued to share about how his mother chose not to abort him despite all odds.

“They told her it was the best solution to abort because the baby would be born with some disability,” an emotional Bocelli revealed.

His brave mother did not give up on Bocelli, and he was brought to the world only because of her strong heart.

He added: “Maybe I'm partisan, but I can say that it was the right choice and I hope that this could encourage many mothers who sometimes might find themselves in difficult situations but want to save the life of their baby."

After his birth in 1958, the iconic singer had problems with his vision and ultimately, he was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma that made him partially blind.

After being hit on the head with a football, Bocelli lost his vision completely at the age of 12.

The singer went through a painful period of seeking treatment for his congenital glaucoma. When nothing seemed to help, music changed his life forever.

The world would not have been gifted with an amazing musician if it wasn’t for his brave mother. She is truly an inspiration!
