Woman Gives Birth to 6 Children in Just 9 Minutes, Statistically a One in 4.7 Billion Chance

A Houston woman made history when she gave birth to sextuplets in record time at the Woman's Hospital of Texas.

Thelma Chiaka became the most recent mother of sextuplets on March 15, 2019, when she gave birth to her children at a Texas hospital.

The incredible delivery was made even more extraordinary by the fact that it was natural childbirth.

"Two sets of twin boys and one set of twin girls were born this morning between 4:50 and 4:59 a.m."

The brave mom went into natural labor and delivered all six children in an incredible 9 minutes.

Most multiple births are delivered through cesarean section, but Thelma was an exception. The Hospital where she delivered her babies was happy with her claim to fame:

“The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, an HCA Houston Healthcare Affiliate, which delivers more babies than any other Texas hospital, early this morning welcomed sextuplets, the odds of which are estimated at one in 4.7 billion.”

The only rarer births are octuplets, the only living set belonging to Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to her brood in 2009.

According to the hospital, Thelma and her babies are doing well, and she has named her two daughters Zina and Zuriel but is still working on names for her four sons.
