'L&HH' Star Erica Mena's Ex-Boyfriend Cliff Dixon Shot to Death during 32nd Birthday Celebration
“Love & Hip Hop” star Erica Mena’s ex-boyfriend, Cliff Dixon was shot to death on Thursday while out celebrating his birthday.
Dixon, who is also a close friend of NBA star Kevin Durant, was outside SL lounge in Atlanta when a lone gunman shot him in the early hours of March 21, reports TMZ.
According to Fox 5, Dixon was already in critical condition when paramedics arrived on the scene. They rushed him to Grady Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries moments later.
The former couple had a tumultuous relationship
A police report describes the gunman as “a black male wearing all black with a black skull cap” who ran away from the scene before officers could form a perimeter. It is not yet sure whether Dixon was targeted in the shooting or how many times he was shot.
The former college basketball star had been out partying at SL Lounge as part of a special appearance for his birthday celebration; Dixon turned 32 on March 17. Less than 24 hours ago, he promoted the event on his Instagram page, writing:
“We litty tonight @slloungeatl come catch the vibe”
Dixon and reality star/model Erica Mena, dated for close to a year before going their separate ways. The former couple had a tumultuous relationship that played out in the media several times.
Dixon and Mena got arrested last October after getting involved in a domestic violence incident and in January, they accused each other of stealing.
Mena has since moved on to her current beau, Safaree Samuels, who she got engaged to in December.
Following Dixon’s death, his friends and acquaintances, including some celebrities, have taken to social media to mourn the tragedy.
One of the first to pay tribute to Dixon was “Black Rose” rapper Dave East, who reminisced on how close the deceased was to “Golden State Warriors” player, Durant.
