Blind Golden Retriever Has Formed an Adorable Bond with a Puppy, Who Serves as His Guide
There is probably only one canine on Instagram that has a companion to help him move around without problems. No kidding! you should check them out. One of the dogs is called Charlie, and his buddy is called Maverick.
Charlie is an 11-year-old golden retriever, while Maverick is a 4-month-old retriever puppy. These two dogs have an unbreakable bond between them, and this made them win the hearts of their 47,000 followers on Instagram.
Charlie is blind, sadly. His owners Adam and Chelsea Stipe had his left eye removed in 2016 as a result of pain caused by glaucoma, and then his right eye a year later for the same condition.
Things were difficult for Charlie, especially when it came to moving around. In January the couple decided to get another puppy, Maverick. Maverick and Charlie didn't hit it off immediately, but after a while, the puppy became the guide for the older dog, Charlie.
Chelsea told Philadelphia that as the two dogs became friends; Maverick began to notice that something was different about Charlie.
"When they would play, Maverick would realize that Charlie would lose the toy sometimes, so (Maverick) would pick it up and put it back in front of him to re-engage playtime,"
Maverick will often walk closely with Charlie to help make sure he gets around without any problems.
Chelsea thought she would share the story of her dogs with WeRateDogs. She did, and WeRateDogs contacted her that they loved the story of her dogs. Who wouldn't?. It is the story of a blind dog having a "seeing eye puppy," a companion that helps him move around.
WeRateDogs posted the story and Viola! Everyone loved the dogs and commented on how much they adore them on social media. Chelsea then decided to create an Instagram account for her dogs.
