Father of Sandy Hook School Shooting Victim Found Dead
The father of one of the 20 children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting died by apparent suicide in Newtown, Connecticut on Monday.
The 49-year-old Jeremy Richman was found unresponsive at the Edmond Town Hall on Monday morning, according to the Newton Police Department.
Richman's 6-year-old Avielle was killed in the 2012 mass shooting, and Richman went on to found the Avielle Foundation.
Authorities confirmed that paramedics were called to the scene. Richman was declared deceased at the scene.
The state's Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the cause of death, and Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde confirmed:
"The death appears to be a suicide, but police will not disclose the method or any other details of the death, only to state the death does not to appear to be suspicious."
He added that it's a "heartbreaking event for the Richman family and the Newton COmmunity as a whole."
Richman was among the parents who sued InfoWars’ Alex Jones for perpetuating the cruel claim that the massacre was a hoax and that the children’s parents were “crisis actors.”
