'Law & Order' Star Christopher Meloni Is a Proud Father of Two - Meet Both of Them
Christopher Meloni is a proud father of two beautiful children, and husband to Doris Sherman Williams. Meloni frequently shares photos of his family on his Instagram account, showing how great his kids grew up to be and how happily married he is.
The Law & Order: SVU actor, playing the role of Detective Elliot Stabler, has been blessed with his career and his family, which he is thankful for.
Meloni first met Williams in 1989, as he was venturing on to his career in show business. He first caught sight of Williams, who was then a production designer, when she came to work on a motorcycle. As he recalls with YourTango, she had short blonde hair and retro sunglasses, which made him say,
“This I gotta meet.”
Sadly, their relationship did not take off from there as Williams disclosed that she had a boyfriend at the time he introduced himself. However, life has its ways, and the two met again after a few years in Los Angeles, where they started going out.
It was in 1995 when the couple decided to tie the knot. The wedding was on a beach in Malibu, California and had a medieval theme. The wedding did not happen during a stable time in Meloni’s career, as he was busy traveling for work, yet the two were still in love and dreamed of living a life together with children.
Since the couple did not live together before their first daughter, Sophia, was born in 2001, they have promised each other to not be away for lonfer than three weeks. They settled down in New York City shortly after the baby was born.
Their next blessing came in 2004, when their son, Dante Amadeo Meloni, was born.
The happy family
Today, Meloni and Williams are happily married for 20 years, with their two grown kids. Sophia is now an 18-year-old freshman, and Dante, a 15-year-old boy.
The happy family frequently enjoys time spent together, which Meloni shares on his Instagram page. The two have been amazing parents, balancing work and family time. The “Law & Order: SVU” actor told USA Today:
“I think my kids would call me a little crazy. I’m very physical, very affectionate. I’m also very disciplined and focused on education. That’s one thing that was instilled in me, one place in life where there’s no compromise.”
“I want them to engage in athletics or the art because those are places where they get to express themselves… I try to encourage that and say, ‘Please trust me. Wondrous things will happen on this journey of pain,’” he added.
Before Meloni rose to fame, he worked as a bouncer and construction worker. Shortly after, he decided to change his career path towards acting. He started with film plays and short TV series, including a part where he was a bisexual murderer and a psychic in "Oz."
He made other appearances in "The Fanelli Boys on NBC," "12 monkeys," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," and "Runaway Bride," among many others. He is now most known for his role in Law & Order: SVU, where he co-stars with Mariska Hartigay.
