Girl, 9, Struck by Car While Playing in Her Front Yard Thanks Brother, 12, for Saving Her Life

LaDerihanna Holmes, a 9-year-old Georgia girl hit by an out-of-control car in her front yard, credits her 12-year-old brother with saving her life.

LaDerihanna Holmes has opened up about her recovery on NBC's Today Show and revealed that her brother saved her life.

The 9-year-old Georgia girl was hit by an out-of-control car while playing in her front yard on March 29, 2019, and has been hospitalized ever since.

“She’s truly a miracle. From what happened to her, I’m surprised she’s alive.”

INTERVIEW WITH PLUCKY SURVIVOR

LaDerihanna revealed in her interview that she credits her brother with saving her life after the runaway vehicle plowed into her, fracturing her skull and her pelvis.

The 12-year-old was the first at LaDerihanna's side and started performing CPR to revive her, a procedure he learned on YouTube.

LADERIHANNA IS STILL IN CONSIDERABLE PAIN

LaDerihanna confessed to NBC's Kerry Sanders that she is still in a lot of pain, although she has taken a few steps with a walker:

“I’m doing better than I did on Sunday, because I was in a lot, a lot of pain. I was . like, ‘I’m going to be in the hospital for too long.'”

LADERIHANNA'S FAMILY WAS LEFT HOMELESS

The car that hit LaDerihanna crashed into her home, and inspectors now say the house is unsafe.

The man whose car ran over LaDerihanna Holmes is claiming innocence, saying that he was being carjacked at gunpoint when the accident occurred.

LaDerihanna's parents will have to find a home to move to with their 5 children but admit that their time is consumed by being at the hospital by their daughter's side.

LADERIHANNA IS EAGER TO BE BACK ON HER FEET

The plucky little girl stated that she will be back on her feet and intends to take up her favorite activity: cheerleading.

Friends of LaDerihanna's family set up a GoFundMe page that has already raised nearly $60,000 of a $75,000 goal to pay for her medical bills.

The owner of the car that hit LaDerihanna is under arrest and charged with failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving, hit and run and serious injury by vehicle.

MAN WHO RAN OVER LADERIHANNA CLAIMS INNOCENCE

The man whose car ran over LaDerihanna Holmes is claiming innocence, saying that he was being carjacked at gunpoint when the accident occurred.

Gabriel Jabri Fordham, 28, turned himself in to the police, and his lawyer has stated that his client is also a victim.

“At no point did our client try to willfully leave the scene. He had a gun pointed at him.”

Fordham's lawyer alleges that the real culprit is the man seen leaving the scene immediately after the crash on the security camera tapes of the accident.
