"I love being with my family. I love being with Tracy," Michael J Fox said.
A recent upload unveiled the secret behind the successful union of Michael J. Fox and his wife, Tracy Pollan. In the interview with Jimmy Fallon, the couple disclosed how they have managed to be with each other for decades.
They have built a beautiful marriage, and many people have often asked how they have been so happily married for so long, especially in Hollywood.
Although Fox has not always been healthy, he said he feels happy spending time with his loved ones. He said:
"I love being with my family. I love being with Tracy."
He also mentioned he doesn't do a lot of the things he used to do because he does not have the energy, but he and his wife laugh each and every day. He said Tracy's support makes him feel like a husband, father, and friend.
Being Hollywood's most talked about couple, Jimmy inquired about their marriage; he asked them the secret of their durability and what they did to make their relationship admirable.
The two lovebirds wasted no time spilling the beans; they hinted to the audience the secret to their "eternal" bond. They further shared with the curious crowd how they pulled through tough times, how they met, and how they responded to situations beyond their control.
The duo explained that their first meeting was behind the scenes while they were shooting the movie "Family Ties," but they were just acquaintances. Their love story premiered after 24 months when they co-starred in two other films, "Big City" and "Bright Lights."
The lights shone even brighter when they exchanged their vows in 1988. Although Tracy claimed when she first met Michael, he didn't pass as her Knight in shining armor, she admitted he was overly confident and that it didn't cross her mind that she would date him.
The pair has successfully nurtured their affections to last over three decades. However, they expressed that they have been through struggles that have helped to intensify their relationship.
In 1991, her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, the duo weathered the storm together, and Michael hinted that they had pioneered the campaign for research. His foundation coughed out close to $ 900 million.
His diagnosis didn't create a barrier to having children; the couple welcomed a son, Sam, in 1989. They broadened their family ties by bringing a set of twins to the equation in 1995, Aquinnah and Schuyler, and finally, in 2001, baby Esme arrived.
When asked how they make their relationship work in such a fast-paced world and with all of his health concerns in mind, Michael said:
“Find the best things about you and the best things about life and celebrate them.”
His wife also talked about what it was like to overcome difficult situations and said: "Just give each other the benefit of the doubt. He assumed I'm doing the best that I can."
Their ages have never been an obstacle in their relationship; 62-year-old Tracy and 61-year-old Michael seem to love each other well enough to conquer all odds.
Before his diagnosis, he had been a very busy man, famous for bagging roles on American sitcoms. His love for acting was as strong as his love for family.
The award-winning actor hid his condition for about seven years, and when he opened up about it, he started to slow down on the number of films he featured.
There's nothing as soothing as having one by your side through the good times and the bad; these two are a testimony that real love exists off-screen.
