'L.A. Law' Actor Jimmy Smits' Daughter Is All Grown up and Looks so Similar to Her Famous Dad
Popular TV series actor, Jimmy Smits has a daughter who is all grown up and is a splitting image of her celebrity dad.
Jimmy Smits is an avid actor in the world of crime drama as he excellently played the roles of “Attorney Victor Sifuentes" in the 1980s TV series, “L.A Law” and Detective Bobby Simone in “NYPD Blue,” a 1990s police drama.
In 1981, Smits tied the knot with his high school love, Barbara Smits and the union is blessed with two children, Taina Smits who is in her mid-40s and Joaquin Smits, 36. Their marriage was however cut short when the couple called it quit in 1987, and Barbara passed on in 2010.
Taina Smits-Beasley who holds a striking resemblance to her father is presently a theater arts teacher in Fairfax; she is also a theatre director and writer as she states on her Instagram bio.
Jimmy Smits got his big break in acting when he took on the role of “ Attorney Sifuentes” in the first seasons of “L.A Law” which numbered up to five.
The 63-year-old star has a great history with crime drama, and he never fails to display apt expertise. He landed several gigs in movies like “The West Wing” which was a 1996 political drama, “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” “Sons of Anarchy” and “Dexter.” The star also featured briefly in “Star Wars prequel trilogy.”
His career soared higher with his role as “Detective Bobby Simone in ABC’s “NYPD BLUE” which the TV series actor featured in from 1994 to 1998. His role in the police drama earned him several accolades such as the HOLA awards of excellence. Smits was also nominated on several occasions for the prestigious Emmy Awards. He is also a two-time winner of the ALMA Awards.
In 1987, Smits got arrested after he allegedly assaulted a police officer. He was arrested alongside actress, Wanda De Jesus who was said to have been involved as well. However, there was no case at the end as a result of the absence of concrete evidence.
Later on, the accused persons pleaded guilty to the allegations. While De Jesus was sentenced to 18 months of probation and a $250 fine, Smits was fined $150 and also an 18 months sentence.
Presently, Smits and De Jesus are in a relationship which budded in 1986.
