Barbara Pierce Bush Has a Second Wedding in Texas 6 Months after the First
Six months ago, Barbara Pierce Bush had a small wedding which included her now late grandfather George H. W. Bush. Now it has been revealed that she and her husband recently had a second one.
This time the wedding was “bigger” and family and friends were invited.
PIERCE BUSH'S SECOND WEDDING
A source revealed that “Barbara and [husband] Craig did have another wedding.” The insider explained the reason for the first wedding saying: “They wanted to make sure her grandfather got to be there so they kept their first wedding small and intimate.”
The source further added, “This party was a chance for them to celebrate with all their friends and family as well.” Some of the guests who were invited to the second wedding posted pictures on social media.
WHO ATTENDED?
It seems the wedding was held at the family’s ranch in Crawford with around 100-plus guests attending. Some of those who were present were actress Megan Ferguson, “T Magazine” editor Isabel Wilkinson, fashion executive Alyssa Zachary, Valaer Van Roÿen of Van Roÿen antiques, and Chloe Kernaghan of Sky Ting yoga.
Of course, Barbara Pierce Bush’s father, former President George W. Bush, was also there. The insider shared: “This time it was definitely bigger, and they had all their friends there.”
A FRIEND WISHES THE COUPLE WELL
Along with a photo of him and Pierce Bush, 37, designer Prabal Gurung wrote on Instagram: “My dearest friend, the gorgeous BB got married this weekend and we danced the nights away. Love you B, congratulations to you and Craig.”
WHEN AND WHERE PIERCE BUSH ORIGINALLY GOT MARRIED
Pierce Bush is the eldest twin daughter of former president Bush. She originally married screenwriter, Craig Coyne, in October in a “very short, sweet ceremony” at the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine.
At the time, around 20 people attended including her aunt, Dorothy “Doro” Bush Koch who married the couple. Her father walked her down the aisle.
WHAT SHE WORE THE FIRST TIME
Pierce Bush’s twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, played the role of matron of honor and the couple’s nieces were the flower girls. The former first daughter wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown made from ivory silk crepe.
Her “something borrowed” for the occasion was a bracelet that her grandfather gave to former First Lady Barbara Bush on their 70th anniversary. Unfortunately, her grandmother passed away six months before the wedding.
GRANDMA BUSH ATTENDED IN SPIRIT
However, she was there in spirit. While on the “Today” show Pierce Bush recalled: “The second that it was announced that we were husband and wife, it started to rain.”
She explained: “I thought, ‘That’s my grandmother. She’s with us, too.’” Sadly, less than two months after her wedding her grandfather also passed away.
HOW THE COUPLE MET
Coyne married his wife after a five-week engagement. Within the same week, he relocated from Los Angeles to make their new home in New York City.
The pair met after being set up by friends on a blind date in November 2017. By New Year’s Eve, the two were already a committed couple.
THE PROPOSAL
Last summer, during a family gathering at Kennebunkport, Coyne and Pierce Bush were walking along the oceanside rocks when he suddenly dropped to his knee and proposed. He chose the same spot where his wife’s grandparents got engaged almost exactly 75 years earlier, in August 1943.
PIERCE BUSH HONORS GRANDPARENTS
After getting married at her first wedding, Pierce Bush revealed that her “something blue” was a pair of earrings from twin sister. She honored her grandparents at the time by reading a letter that her grandfather had written to his wife on their 49th wedding anniversary on January 6, 1994.
