Gina Tognoni of 'Young and the Restless' Gets a Heartfelt Goodbye from the Cast
On Friday night, Gina Tognoni received goodbyes from “The Young and the Restless” cast while they spent the evening celebrating Gina’s five years as Phyllis Summers on the longtime soap.
The actress shared a slideshow of pictures taken during the evening with a caption that read, “Just a few photos from an incredible evening last night (more to come ) A celebration of five years with my #YR family. My heart is Full !!”
In the happy snaps, Gina posed with various co-stars like Peter Bergman (Jack), Sasha Calle (Lola), Amelia Heinle (Victoria), Bryton James (Devon), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), Tracy Bregman (Lauren), Sharon Case (Sharon), Cait Fairbanks (Tessa), Jason Thompson (Billy), and Daniel Goddard (Cane).
For the evening, Gina looked beautiful in a figure-hugging blue rib knit faux turtle neck sleeveless dress that featured lace-up detailing on the bodice.
The 45-year-old joined “The Young and the Restless” as Phyllis Summers in 2014, a role that earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Before her role in the soap, she received the Daytime Emmy award for Oustanding Supporting Actress for her role as Dinah Marler in “Guiding Light” in 2006.
Gina first announced her departure from the series on March 30 and had just wrapped up her final week of filming. Michelle Stafford, the previous actress who played the role as Phyllis, will resume the role this summer, according to the Inquisitr.
SoapHub also reported that Michelle would leave “General Hospital” to take on the role she had previously played from 1994 to 1997 and again from 2000 until 2013 when Gina took on the character for the last five years.
After Gina posted pictures of the celebrations on Friday night, many of her former “The Young and the Restless” co-stars commented on the post as Daniel Goddard wrote, “You are so very loved!”
Sharon Case, Christel Khalil, and Bryton James all chimed in with strings of heart emoji’s while Beth Maitland added, “How magnificent you are!!”
Many fans also shared their well-wishes towards Gina as she closed this chapter in her life. “Gina, thank you for five wonderful years. You are a true artist and a class act. Your fans can’t wait to see what your next act will be! God bless,” one fan wrote.
However, Gina is not the only cast member to leave the show. Last month, Noemi Gonzales also announced her departure from the show.
She played the role of Mia Rosales since last year, and her exit from the show comes just as “Mia” is about to find out about her pregnancy.
