Meghan Markle’s Mother Is ‘Overjoyed’ with the Birth of Her First Grandson

Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle’s mother, was thrilled to have her first grandchild delivered by Markle last May 6.

The day that everyone has been waiting for finally came; Meghan Markle delivered a healthy baby boy! A formal framed notice was posted on an easel outside the Buckingham Palace on May 6, announcing Markle’s successful delivery.

“The Queen and the Royal Family are delighted at the news that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526 am today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” it read.

THE FIRST GRANDCHILD

Among the many people who are thrilled about the birth of a new royal is Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, who was overflowing with joy as she welcomed her first grandchild in London.

Ragland visited the couple and their baby at their Frogmore Cottage in Windsor and was said to be “overjoyed” by the Royal Family’s Twitter account.

“The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well,” read the tweet.

A BEAMING PRINCE HARRY

The news of Baby Sussexes birth was announced by Prince Harry, who was beaming with excitement and happiness. He said that they had a “very healthy baby boy,” and that he was “incredibly proud” of his wife.

Harry described the moment as an “amazing experience” and disclosed that they have yet to choose a name for their son, but will share their thoughts in the days to come.

He also expressed his gratefulness to everyone who continuously showed their love and support throughout Markle’s pregnancy. Their son weighed 7lbs and 3oz upon delivery at 5:26 am on May 6.

A PRIVATE BIRTH PLAN

Before the delivery of Markle, the couple has decided and released a statement that they opted to keep their birth plans private, including the due date and place of birth. Many speculations surfaced regarding the date of birth and the baby’s gender, but nothing was confirmed.

Unlike Kate Middleton’s traditional births, Markle was not set to have her delivery at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital and will not have a photo with her newborn shortly after. Only family and close friends knew the important information regarding her birth.

The family that Markle acknowledges and includes is her mother, who lives in the US, but traveled to be with her during her hours in labor. Ragland is a yoga instructor and psychotherapist, whom Markle deeply admires.

Ragland gave birth to Markle in August 1981, with her then-husband, Thomas Markle whom she met on the set of a soap opera where she was a temp, and he was a lighting director. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 1988.

Markle lived with her mother after the split but visited her father regularly. However, she and her father are no longer in good terms, as seen through her actions towards him, including his absence during her wedding.
