Joe Budden Claims Erica Mena & Safaree Split During His Podcast
As rumors about Erica Mena leaving fiancé Safaree grew online, their “Love & Hip Hop” co-star Joe Budden took it upon himself to allegedly confirm the split. However, Mena made sure to slam his claims with a tweet.
Last week, the newly engaged couple of Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels started to face break-up rumors when the gossip site Media Takeout claimed to have “proof” the model had decided to call it quits with Safaree.
They alleged that a “close friend” of Mena told them that, after discovering he was texting other women—including his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj— Erica called off the engagement.
Although neither Mena nor Samuels addressed the rumors at first, fans filled their social media with questions about the status of their relationship, demanding to know if they were really broken up.
Finally, Mena took to Twitter to slam the rumors, writing:
"FYI to all you flogs if my 'Fiancé' were to EVER get caught texting any female but me he wouldn't be able to walk right now. Believe dat! Sincerely a real crazy Latina."
And as the rumors started to die down, it took Joe Budden to bring the issue up again on his podcast for fans to continue prodding at Mena and Samuels’ relationship.
JOE BUDDEN DROPS BAD NEWS
Budden, whose relationship with fiancé Cyn Santana has been rocky in the past months, mentioned on the most recent episode of his podcast that all the rumors were true.
“Safaree broke up with Erica,” he said, as his co-hosts exclaimed in surprise, adding that “that’s unfortunate.”
It is not clear if Mena caught wind of Budden’s words, but she proved once again that all is good with her fiancé by replying to one of his tweets.
Samuels shared a pic of Mena adding in the caption how much he missed her, to which she replied: “I got plans for you once I get home.”
FIGHTING RUMORS FROM THE START
The couple, who got engaged in a lavish and elaborated proposal on Christmas Eve, have been fighting rumors about their relationship being only for the cameras since they started dating.
But Erica recently told People that she'd found the one in Safaree.
“I’ve actually really met my match,” she said. “We’re definitely wild and free. We are one. He’s the best I’ve ever had.”
Safaree has put in the effort to connect with Erica’s 11-year-old son, and she couldn’t stop gushing about it:
“He took the time not only to get to know my son King, but he got a chance to kind of learn him, and how he feels and what we’ve been through. I’m a single mom, and so sorry King has never really met anyone besides my previous engagement, and that experience was definitely traumatizing.”
When asked about the real vs. fake debate of their relationship, Mena was quick to brush it off saying that “It’s funny because as much as people think this looks for Love & Hip Hop, they’re not going to see any of our proposal footage and things of that nature, which is personal to us.”
The couple is currently planning their dream wedding, and according to Mena, Samuels is involved in the process.
“You got a bride who’s Latin, and you got a groom that’s Jamaican. So the festivities in itself as far as how big the wedding and over-the-top and dramatic it’s going to be, is, like, literally an understatement…” she said. “I definitely think this is going to be a wedding that definitely would be the talk of the town.”
