Why Exactly Is Sara Gilbert Exiting 'The Talk?'
Renowned actor, director, and talk show host, Sara Gilbert, announced earlier this year that she would be leaving "The Talk" after nine years on air.
Gilbert explained at the time that it was the hardest decision she had to make and that she was nervous about walking away from such a big part of her life.
She adds that she wants to focus on producing new content and would be looking for more opportunities to act.
Gilbert, visibly emotional while explaining her reasons for leaving, assured fans that she would return to co-host the show every once in a while.
Her busy schedule of juggling acting, producing, directing, and hosting a talk show caused an imbalance in her home life.
Marie Osmond will replace Gilbert when she leaves at the end of season nine. Osmond is most famously known for her daytime talk show, "Marie."
SARA GILBERT WANTS TO FOCUS ON OTHER PROJECTS
Gilbert said she needed to focus on other projects and "small things" in her life – as well as her family. There simply wasn't enough time to get to everything and everyone. She explained:
“I’m having opportunities to act, and I’m just feeling like I don’t know how I’m going to do it all. I was looking at the next six months and thinking, ‘There’s no time.’”
Gilbert's acting credits include recurring roles on "The Connors," "Living Biblically" on CBS, and an Internet show titled "Weird City" on YouTube.
Apart from portraying the role of Darlene Conner-Healy on "The Connors," Gilbert also serves as producer and director of the "Roseanne" spinoff.
MORE TIME WITH HER FAMILY
Her busy schedule of juggling acting, producing, directing, and hosting a talk show caused an imbalance in her home life.
After leaving "The Talk," Gilbert plans to spend more time with her wife, Linda Perry, and their children, Rhodes Emilio, Levi Hank, and Sawyer. She said:
"Last season, I did 'The Conners' and was also producing and (hosting) here. I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also, if I’m being honest about it, my life was slightly out of balance. I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or take time for myself."
