President Donald Trump Jokes He’s ‘a Little Upset’ with Melania during a Memorial Day Speech Aboard the USS Wasp

Donald and Melania Trump have spent the last couple of days in Japan. where the President of the United States took the opportunity to talk to the American troops stationed in the country.

Trump wished a happy Memorial Day to around 800 servicemen and women from the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet aboard the USS Wasp, an assault ship docked in Japan.

Not only that but he also jokingly confessed that he was a little upset with Melania because the Japanese media was paying more attention to her than to him.

PRAISING MELANIA FOR HER HARD WORK

According to the Head of State, the First Lady deserved all the recognition she has been having because she works very hard for it, especially with her "Be Best" campaign.

CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAY ABROAD

While talking to the troops at Tokyo Bay, the 72-year-old shared that he usually prefers to spend Memorial Day on American soil but described the trip to Japan as "amazing and unforgettable."

He said:

"I have to wish you all a very happy Memorial Day. On this Memorial Day evening in the United States, Americans are concluding a sacred day of remembrance, reflection and prayer."

Prior to Trump's speech, the First Couple had the opportunity to visit the J.S. Kaga, a Japanese helicopter carrier docked closed to the bay, and the President also delivered the same Memorial Day message to the Japanese forces.

MEETING THE IMPERIAL COUPLE

On Monday, Trump made history for becoming the first foreign leader to meet Naruhito, the Emperor of Japan, who ascended to the throne on May 1, as well as his wife, Empress Masako.

The meeting took place in the morning and the Trumps even presented the imperial leaders with gifts, such as a hand-made 1938 viola, a signed picture of American composure Aaron Copland and a signed photo of himself.

Melania also gifted Empress Masako with a custom-made White House desk set and a pen made with wood from a live red oak from Harvard University, where the Empress once studied economics.
