A “Washington Post” article named Nancy Pelosi, the US House Speaker, a fashion icon but Melania Trump’s fans have shown disapproval.
The article is dated May 21 and details the numerous excellent fashion choices Pelosi has made. The writer, Christina Binkley, showered the 79-year-old with a lot of praises and even went on to call her a “fashion icon.”
Binkley mainly centered the reader's attention on Pelosi’s prideful attitude, which shone through late last year when the House Speaker showed off her “swagger” wearing a knee-length red coat.
Pelosi’s bold ensemble, including the startling red coat, dark shades, and low nude shoes, caused a rumble on social media.
Binkley noted that Pelosi dripped of pride and it showed in her walk and the tipping of her sunglasses as she left the White House back then. Everything went viral, from the statement coat to her swagger moves.
Barry Jenkins, director of “Moonlight,” wrote:
“She knew exactly what she was doing wearing THIS coat on THIS day coming out of THAT room, placing THOSE shades on JUST so. This is diplomacy in motion; soft power wielded like a machete through the diligent, decisive act of dressing.”
As is usually observed in women of the elite class who hold an essential place in politics, Nancy Pelosi has stayed mum regarding her fashionable taste. When “Elle” questioned her about the viral ensemble, she only said:
“I had no plan or intention; it was just clean. Clean should be the first criteria.”
Pelosi, who reportedly selects all of her clothing choices herself, almost seems unaware of all the talk! While many seem to agree that the mother of five is a notable fashionista, a significant number of netizens have objected and instead named the First Lady, Melania Trump, THE fashion icon.
A Twitter user, @Bill_USA1 said:
“Melania is the fashion Icon. She’d be on every magazine cover since 2016 (if she was a Dem). She’s True Elegance!”
Melania, known for her elegance, has indeed made a remarkable mark in fashion all the times her outfit sparked massive reactions from netizens. Who can forget the custom-made blue Ralph Lauren suit she wore to her husband's 2017 presidential inauguration.
Dressing Melania had netizens lashing out at the famous designer thus causing an epic movement of sorts on social media platforms. That, when compared to Pelosi’s coat, is no mean feat.
