The public funeral of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne took place in Birmingham on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, drawing a large crowd of fans and considerable media attention. As videos of the event circulated online, some netizens focused on a detail that split opinion on how Ozzy should be remembered.

While the funeral was live-streamed worldwide, some news outlets uploaded shorter clips highlighting key moments from the memorial. One, in particular, showed his widow, Sharon Osbourne, and their children, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, getting out of their car as they arrive at the Black Sabbath Bench.

Dressed in all black, Jack and Kelly were seen taking their mother's arm and guiding her across the street as she appeared visibly emotional.

In the background, many fans and residents of Birmingham were seen standing and cheering behind barricades. Some were even chanting, "Ozzy!" Security personnel were also present, while a local brass band played a rather lively tune.

On X, another added, "Playing the happiest music when a family is grieving is actully terrible [sic]." However, in response, one person countered, "Ozzy's wishes was to not have a 'mope fest [sic],'" while a netizen clarified, "They played Sabbath and Ozzy songs."

Meanwhile, some people were more focused on the noise from the crowd. One netizen commented, "I also think it’s also disrespectful. - Sharon is clearly mourning ozzys death and the crowd are like they are going to a concert [sic]."

Another added, "The crowd should of shown a sign of respect by being silent and letting his family have this moment 😢 [sic]." One person asked, "What are the crowd screaming for, it not a concert or a football match, have some respect [sic]."
