Lisa Bonet's Husband Jason Momoa Was ‘Too Broke to Fly Home’ in Throwback Photo
Jason Momoa shared a glimpse of his humble past during the days when he was filming for "Game of Thrones." The actor reveals he was "too broke to fly home."
Before he gained fame as Khal Drogo in “Game Thrones” and later as “Aquaman,” Jason Momoa was “too broke to fly home.”
The actor made this honest revelation when he recently shared a throwback photo from the time he was filming the blockbuster HBO series. Jason appeared in the show’s first season between 2011-2012.
ON A BREAK AND BROKE
In the pic taken by his best friend Brian, he was lying at the back of a rented van parked somewhere off the road in Donegal, Ireland. The 39-year-old husband of Lisa Bonet says in his caption that he was on a break from filming the show when he and his friend decided to go on a road trip in search of “the greatest pint of Guiness” which turned out to be “perfect everywhere.” It was a fall back plan because he admitted, he was “too broke to fly home.”
Jason contemplates it was a simple time but one that he treasured because of the many people and stories he encountered. He adds,
“Been a long road and I feel like I’m just getting started.”
A SETBACK AFTER SUCCESS
It took a little while for Jason’s career to kick off after gaining fame as the leader of the Dothraki tribe and husband of Daenerys, “Mother of Dragons” in the hit HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” For a while the actor admitted, he had a difficult time landing new roles due to his exposure on the show.
“It didn’t help my career a lot because Khal Drogo doesn’t even speak English,” he said. In the show, he spoke the language of Dothraki.
WHEN THE TIDES TURNED
However, the tides turned later when the actor was cast as “Aquaman.” He has since appeared in three films as the superhero, a role that also encouraged him to be a role model to children.
SHAVE TO SAVE
Jason recently shaved his trademark beard revealing to Ellen DeGeneres that it was part of an initiative he was involved with. He released a video promoting the use of recyclable aluminum in an effort to save the earth from its destruction.
It appears the actor has imbibed his role as a defender of the seas and taken it to heart. Kudos to Jason for using his success to make a difference while remaining humble about his past.
