Kimora Lee Simmons & Djimon Hounsou Celebrate Their Son's 10th Birthday
Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou paid tribute to their 10-year-old birthday boy in special messages following a celebration. "I miss being with you today and everyday," Djimon wrote while Kimora was grateful "you chose me."
Their son is 10 and Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou commemorated the milestone with special messages for the boy.
"SO GLAD YOU CHOSE ME"
“THIS IS 10!” Kimora declared on her Instagram as she shared a clip of her son, Kenzo Lee surrounded with gifts and cake. The young man who resembles his father was definitely feeling all the love.
"Kimora and Kenzo’s father, Djimon were once a loved up couple until they decided to part ways in late 2012"
Kimora accompanied the video with a special message paying tribute to Kenzo’s importance in her life.
“Happy birthday to my handsome young man #kenzolee !! Mama loves you and I’m so super proud of you!” she wrote. “You are intelligent, kind and clever! I’m so glad you chose me to be your mama 10 years ago, continue to make us proud with your crazy personality and superstar wit!”
Kimora and Kenzo’s father, Djimon were once a loved up couple until they decided to part ways in late 2012. They remained committed to Kenzo despite the separation. They’re now friendly co-parents who try to provide a beautiful life for their child.
"...today I deposit my thoughts, blessings and love to you for your birthday."
'I MISS BEING WITH YOU"
Like Kimora, Djimon took to his Instagram to pay tribute to his son. His message would tug at the heart of any father.
“KenzoLee Is 10 today...Each day we make deposits in the memory bank of our children and today I deposit my thoughts, blessings and love to you for your birthday. #kenzoLee I miss being with you today and everyday. Happy blissful birthday celebration”
The message was accompanied by a photo of the young man who was wearing the same clothes from Kimora’s clip. It’s unclear if Djimon took the photo himself since he admitted to not being around for the celebration in his caption.
“The minute he said it, I was like, damn. My whole self was shattered."
"MY WHOLE SELF WAS SHATTERED"
That wasn’t the case last year at Kenzo’s superhero themed birthday party. Djimon made sure he was there along with the rest of the superhero characters who arrived for the occasion. Kenzo is a fan of Spiderman. In fact, he once told his father he wanted to be white like the famous web-slinger, to the alarm of the "Blood Diamond" star.
Djimon was actually considered for the role of “Black Panther” and it would have been a treat for Kenzo to have a superhero dad.
“The minute he said it, I was like, damn. My whole self was shattered. I was like, ‘wow, what sort of comeback do you have for this?’” Djimon recalled to The Guardian. He was speaking about colorism at a time when “Black Panther”, a Black superhero was making headlines. For Djimoun, it was important for his son to love his skin color.
SUPERHERO DAD
Djimon was actually considered for the role of “Black Panther” and it would have been a treat for Kenzo to have a superhero dad. But we all know the 55-year-old actor didn’t get the role that went to Chadwick Boseman. Instead, he landed a part in “Aquaman". Regardless of whether he was in a film featuring famous superheroes, we’re certain he’s a super dad in Kenzo’s eyes.
