A racist Airbnb host is being slammed online for kicking out a group of black friends who rented his listing, calling them "monkey."

The host, an Asian woman named Kate, called her tenants "monkey," which her roommate said was something she said out of anger. Numerous times that night, the tenant, Meshach Cisero, and her group were a lot noisier than they were supposed to be in the middle of the night.

The roommate, Dominic Fogarty, wrote an e-mail to multiple news outlets to defend his neighbor, saying the video did not capture the entire altercation.

“While the video is true, it doesn’t catch the full context of what happened in the evening,”

According to him, guests were making noise until 2 AM, and they were asked to lower it down multiple times because family members in the same house were trying to sleep. The woman in the video, Kate, got frustrated and asked them to leave because of the noise they were making. When they refused and called her nasty names, that was when she snapped and called them "monkey."

“While the video is true, it doesn’t catch the full context of what happened in the evening. The guests were making a lot of noise until 2am and I asked them a few times to please keep it down as we have family members trying to sleep,” he wrote. “The woman in the video got frustrated and asked them to leave due to the noise but they refused and called her nasty names which is when she snapped.”

Dominic added that aside from their noise, they snuck in a fifth person in the room despite booking for four, claiming that he was their friend who "lived locally."

“They also mistakenly thought the listing was for the full house and brought two dogs with them even though we state no pets allowed. They did ask if it was okay for them to stay in the room in crates and since they checked in at around 11pm and I assume had travelled [sic] from somewhere, I let them as I was trying to accommodate them. Unfortunately they (the guests) kept being disturbing for the next few hours.”

Although Fogarty tried to defend Kate, he said that the monkey remarks she made are definitely not excused. He still felt the need to share their side of the story, though, as people were demonizing Kate as a cruel woman without context.

He ended his statement saying: “This has been a stressful situation and while the monkey remarks aren’t excused, we feel it is only fair to hear [our] side of the story.”

Despite his statement, Airbnb has let everyone know that they are working towards removing the host from the platform, especially since they have a strict non-discrimination policy.

“We have a strict nondiscrimination policy, which we are enforcing to remove the host from our platform. We are supporting Mr. Cisero and his friends in getting them a new place to stay through our Open Doors policy. We’re thankful to them for bringing this to our attention so we could take action."
