Keith Urban Sends a Sweet Shoutout to Wife Nicole Kidman at the CMT Awards
The husband and wife of 13 years are famous for their public displays of affection during awards shows and red carpet events, and when she couldn’t accompany in his recent appearance, he called her name.
June 5 was a big night for 51-year-old country singer Keith Urban at the 2019 CMT Awards, where not only he gave an outstanding live performance but also took the Collaborative Video of the Year home along with Julia Michaels for “Coming Home.”
Contrary to other occasions, this time his wife, 51-year-old actress Nicole Kidman, couldn’t be by his side to give him her love and support, but he proved he always has her in his mind and heart when he shouted out to her in a sweet way.
“My wife, Nicole Mary, who’s at home tonight. She’s working in New York, actually. I wish you were here, baby girl, I miss you,” Urban said during his acceptance speech from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
With Season 2 of her HBO hit show “Big Little Lies” about to premiere on June 10, Kidman has a busy schedule these days, touring the press to promote the series along with its ensemble cast.
"[Meeting Nicole] and getting married wasn't life-changing, it was life-beginning. It was literally, like, 'OK, life starts.'"
She keeps her husband in her mind at all times as well, and during one of her promotional interviews with ET, she opened up about how supportive and caring he is, and how lucky she is to have him in her life.
“I have the most extraordinary partner in life. I will always say that about him,” she acknowledged.
“I’m one of the very fortunate women in the world to have had a wonderful father, and I have a wonderful husband, and I’m just very — I love to be able to say that because to talk about the good men that have influenced me and affected me,” Kidman added.
They clearly have a hard time being away from each other, and right after his CMT appearance, Urban told ET’s Nancy O’Dell that he was going to join his wife and daughters in New York the following day.
He said he was looking forward to Father’s Day, when he promised to have some nice surprises to reveal, without giving further details.
If their PDA displays on events are not enough to melt their fans' hearts every time they appear together, the lovebirds have been gifting them with their spontaneous duets on social media.
Married in 2006, the Australian star couple has been conquering everybody’s hearts during their more than a decade together, a time that has seen them welcome daughters Sunday (10) and Faith (8).
"[Meeting Nicole] and getting married wasn't life-changing, it was life-beginning. It was literally, like, 'OK, life starts,'" Urban said in 2016.
