Many called the First Lady “disrespectful” and “tasteless” for her choice. D Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history.

During the D-Day invasion, the Allied Forces of Britain, America, Canada, and France attacked the German army on the coast of Normandy, France. As many as 4,400 soldiers died in what is often referred to as the event that led to the end of World War Two.

During the 75th-anniversary event, the FLOTUS sat with other world leaders and D-Day veterans. However, she kept her oversized designer sunglasses on throughout the ceremony.

Twitter users immediately pointed out the "disrespectful" move from the First Lady. One tweeted:

"Why did Melania Trump not remove her sunglasses at this most solemn D day ceremony? How disrespectful! Mrs. Macron wasn't wearing sunglasses. I guess she is uncomfortable making eye contact. She thinks she is sitting on the French Riviera sipping champagne!!"

One user even commented that she was "not well brought up. How dare you keep sunglasses on during our day of remembrance at Normandy." While others demanded to know why "she didn't even remove them for the National Anthem."

"@FLOTUS take off the sunglasses!!! Rude as hell," read one tweet.

However, the criticism didn't deter Melania from wearing her signature shades again. She channeled Jackie Kennedy for the outfit she wore when leaving Europe after the jam-packed tour.

She wore a beige Burberry trench coat which she paired with a powder-blue silk Hermès scarf wrapped around her head and her oversized dark sunglasses. On her feet, she wore a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps.

“In my lifetime I have only seen 2 elegant, sophisticated, intelligent first ladies - Jackie Kennedy and Melania Trump in that order,” said one fan.
