Father’s Day this year was especially hard for Lauren London who celebrated the occasion for the first time since the death of her boyfriend, Nipsey Hussle. Lauren shares her two-year-old son, Kross with the rapper who died from gunshot wounds in March.

CELEBRATING FATHERHOOD

As a special tribute to the slain musician on Father’s Day, Lauren shared a heartwarming post featuring a photo of them with their son in a tender moment.

"One of the reasons I fell in Love with You.... Your Fatherhood,” she captioned the pic. “Today we celebrate You Love you Ermias.”

IN MEMORY OF ERMIAS

Lauren used the rapper’s birth name, Ermias which means “God will rise.” The phrase also appears at the back of a pendant she now wears. The custom-made jewelry was a present to her from Charlamagne Tha God after Nipsey’s death and features the rapper’s face cast in gold.

“I’ve lost my best friend. My sanctuary. My protector. My soul.”

"COMPLETELY LOST"

Lauren and Nipsy had been dating for six years when the musician was shot and killed outside his clothing store in Los Angeles. Shortly after, the actress wrote an emotional message expressing her grief.

“I am completely lost,” the 34-year-old said. “I’ve lost my best friend. My sanctuary. My protector. My soul,” she added.

"Like a shield over me when you’re around, I am totally myself when I’m with you.”

SPEAKING AT NIPSEY'S FUNERAL

During his funeral, Lauren was also emotional when she shared a text she sent Nipsey shortly before he died. It was a testament to the kind of love they shared and the security she felt with Nipsey in her life.

“I feel safe around you; protected. Like a shield over me when you’re around, I am totally myself when I’m with you,” part of the text read.

It may be a while for Lauren to get over Nipsey’s loss but she is comforted by the many people who wished her well. More importantly, she has their son to remind her of him.

KROSS AND HIS SIBLINGS

Kross was born on the 31st of August 2016 in Los Angeles. Though his parents hardly shared photos of him on Instagram to keep his privacy, he is the apple of their eye. His mother, who has an older son, Cameron from her previous relationship with Lil Wayne, always prided in making her kids her priority. She told Ebony that the days she's not working are always dedicated to her children.

Meanwhile, Nipsey shares Lauren's devotion to being there for his children. Apart from Kross, he also has a 10-year-old daughter, Emani, with his former girlfriend, Tanisha Foster. Emani had been living predominantly with him before his death. He even took her to the 2019 Grammys earlier this year.

As such, Tanisha lost custody of her recently when Nipsey's sister, Samantha, challenged her in court to be Emani's legal guardian. One of the reasons Tanisha lost her case was her extensive criminal record including a revoked probation after she failed to show up at a hearing for her DUI.

Nipsey's legacy will live on in his children, no doubt, with Lauren and his sister making sure of it. Here's hoping they grow up knowing their father's love, especially Kross who's too young to remember him.
