Dave Mustaine, Megadeth Guitarist, Reveals He Has Throat Cancer
Dave Mustaine, the 57-year-old artist best known as one of the members of the heavy metal band Megadeth, revealed that he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
In a lengthy message that Dave uploaded to Twitter and Facebook earlier today, he shared the sad news and said that even though it was something to be “respected and faced head-on,” he had undercome other obstacles in life before.
“I’m working closely with my doctors, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun,”
added the guitarist before saying that most of the shows he was supposed to be in during this year would be canceled.
Dave said that he and the rest of the members of Megadeth, David Ellefson, Kiko Loureiro, and Dirk Verbeuren, were working hard in the studio to release the follow-up disc to “Dystopia,” their 15th album.
“I’m so thankful for my whole team – family, doctors, band members, trainers, and more. I’ll keep everyone posted,” Dave finished.
So far, he has not shared the stage of his cancer or how long the treatment would take.
Megadeth is one of the most influential and respected bands of all time. Through their 36 years in the industry, they have sold more than 38 million albums worldwide, got 12 Grammy nominations, and earned a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance thanks to their song “Dystopia.”
