It seems Remy Ma’s plate is filling up with legal matters so she decided to address one of them to lighten her load. The rapper finally responded to a subpoena in relation to her professional dealings with her former manager, Vince Herbert.

The Blast learned recently that Ma turned over financial information to the court after being warned of consequences for her failure to respond to a previous subpoena.

WHY REMY HAD A SUBPOENA

Ma’s involvement in the case stems from her professional relationship with Herbert. The estranged husband of Tamar Braxton reportedly owes music company LDNX Records $380,000 and in order to collect, the company decided to tap his artists to divulge information about the manager’s finances. LDNX was hoping there was still money owed to Herbert by these artists so they can use this to pay for Herbert’s debt.

THE THREAT OF CONTEMPT OF COURT

Among the artists who were sent a subpoena were Ma and Lady Gaga who failed to respond. As such, LDNX accused the artists of failing to provide information and demanded sanctions against them. This prompted Gaga to eventually cough up the requested information, freeing her from the sanctions. Meanwhile, Ma remained in contempt of court for refusing to budge. But that may change now that she finally responded.

DETAILS OF REMY'S RESPONSE

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Remy divulged that Herbert was only a temporary consultant for her and was only her personal manager briefly. She said she didn’t pay him anything in a span of six months. However, she did reveal paying him $56k in 2017 through a Wells Fargo bank account of Herbert’s, information LDNX may be able to use in its quest to collect.

ANOTHER CASE PENDING IN COURT

While Ma may find herself relieved from the pressures of this case, she’s currently facing another as a result of an alleged assault on Brittney Taylor. The reality star accused Ma of giving her a black eye a few months back and pressed charges against the rapper. Ma will be facing trial after refusing to accept a plea deal. She insists she’s innocent and is relying on video surveillance footage to prove it.
