Bobby Brown Gets Teary in Emotional Tribute to Late Bobbi Kristina at Essence Fest

Bobby Brown got emotional at the Essence Festival when he gave a special tribute to his late daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

Bobby Brown hit the Essence Festival Main Stage last Saturday and used it as an opportunity to pay tribute to someone he loves dearly.

Before ending their set at the widely attended show, Brown made a special mention to his late daughter with some heartwarming words. Holding on to a pendant worn around his neck, he said:

"I keep one of my kids right here with me. Her name is Bobbi Kristina. I keep all of [my kids] close to my heart, but this one right here, stays around my neck and right there near my heart."

A Father's Heartache

Bobby became emotional after reflecting about his daughter, whose life was cut short back in 2015 at just 22-years-old, only three years after the death of her mom, Whitney Houston.

Telling the audience about how he communicates with his daughter, he says he screams in a dome, such as where they were in that moment.

“When I want to talk to my daughter, when I want to let her know how I’m feeling, I scream from a dome like this.”

Moving On

After playing a guitar solo and Bobby wiping the tears in his eyes, he finished his tribute by saying: "I know I'm going to love her for the rest of my life."

Since separating from Whitney, Bobby went on to marry Alicia Etheridge in 2012. The happy couple now spends their days with their three young children, always making the most out of their time together. Bobby and Alicia are parents to three kids: son Cassius, and daughter Bohdi and Hendrix.
