Couple Sues Fertility Clinic after Another Woman Mistakenly Gives Birth to Their Son

The couple introduced the documents of the lawsuit against the fertility center on Wednesday, after confirming that the clinic had implanted their embryo in the body of an unknown woman by mistake.

They learned that they had had a child after the clinic called them for genetic tests without further explanation. And after recovering from the surprise, they started a legal fight to have their son with them.

They are Anni and Ashot Manukyan, a couple from California, who found out that they had a son that was born with another baby after being implanted and conceived by the third couple from New York.

It all started when a couple from New York attended the clinic for what they believed was the delivery of their twin girls, but they ended up bringing two boys into this world and they are not related to them.

The couple was Asian but the babies they delivered was a pair of white Caucasian children. The couple has preferred to remain anonymous. Presuming the embarrassing and critical situations they would have to face and have decided not to reveal their identity.

After consulting, they decide to contact the CHA Fertility Clinic in Los Angeles, California to explain and resolve what happened, there is no way that the two white, Caucasian babies are their children.

For their part, the biological parents of the other baby also began a long legal battle to obtain custody of their child. In both cases, the babies are now with their biological families.

According to information leaked to the press, the other two couples, both the Asian and the biological parents of the other child, are also contemplating suing the CHA Fertility Clinic, but they have not yet done so.

With this mistake made by implanting two different embryos in the womb of a third woman, not only did the clinic cause great pain but for many reasons, they have changed the lives of these three families forever.

It took the Manukyans a month of intense legal battle through their lawyer to get them to deliver their son. The second couple also already has their son with them, however, for the Asian couple things turned out worse because they were left empty-handed.

This reminds us of Eve Wiley, who discovered that her mom's fertility doctor illegally became her biological father after he swapped sperms with the donor.

Because of her experience, Wiley championed Senate Bill 1259, which criminalizes “unauthorized implantation of ‘human reproductive material’” which can be fined up to $10,000 and receive jail time.
