R. Kelly Reportedly Wants Computer in Jail to Finish Album While Awaiting Trial
R. Kelly is reportedly asking for a computer in jail to continue making his album and earn while awaiting trial.
According to R. Kelly's lawyer, Steve Greenberg, the singer was moved to a new cell in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Correctional Center and has been looking for ways to stay productive while waiting for his trial for child sex abuse and pornography charges.
An Odd Request
In fact, he says R. Kelly is requesting for a computer so that he can earn while in jail, as he is in desperate need of money. According to his attorney, who told Sneed about the situation,
“He [Kelly] wants his computer so he can finish up the record album he has been working on. My client needs to make money and he has been precluded from doing so because of his legal situation."
Clarifications on his literacy
This is quite an odd request especially since Kelly is known for not being able to read due to his learning disability. However, Green confirms that he was able to go to grammar school.
“Basketball got him through grammar school; and although he couldn’t read or write, he had a high school music teacher who taught him to learn music and sing before he dropped out."
Turned Over Files
R. Kelly's latest jail stint comes after his ex-staffers turned over 20 sex tapes to the FBI, which was enough to indict him.
According to Gerald Griggs, the attorney representing Joycelyn Savage's family among others, the FBI is in possession of more than 20 tapes of Kelly with minors. At this point, R. Kelly's former staffers turned over the tapes in hopes of giving justice to his victims.
Piles of Charges against Kelly
Kelly was arrested over a 13-count indictment, with 4 counts of producing child pornography, and 2 counts of receiving child pornography.
Just last month, he pled not guilty to 11-counts of sex crimes charged against him in Chicago. On May 30, 2019, he was charged with 11 counts of serious sexual crimes, which is already part of an existing case against him.
Now, the singer awaits his trial in jail, hoping to profit out of the time he spends there.
