Robin Williams Youngest Son Cody Honored Late Father by Getting Married on His Birthday

Late actor Robin Williams has been honored by his son in a special way on a day that would’ve been his birthday. Williams’ son got married on Sunday to the love of his life.

According to a Tuesday Instagram post by the late Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda Williams, 29, her brother honored their father by getting married on his birthday. June 21, would’ve been the actor’s 68th birthday.

Robin’s youngest son, Cody Williams, 27, married Maria Flores at the home the actor and his ex-wife Marsha Garces Williams shared when he and his sister were growing up. The late actor also had another son Zachary, 36, with Valerie Velardi.

PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE LATE ACTOR

The wedding venue also happened to be the place where Cody fell in love with his bride six years ago. During their ceremony, the couple paid tribute to Robin, his cousin Todd Elsner, Maria’s late grandfather Daniel Flores, her aunt Carol Bowling, and many others.

While a recording of the bride singing “Never Enough” played in the background, the wedding guests held up yellow roses. To show their undying love for their late family members the couple also lit a candle with three wicks.

ZELDA HONORED HER FATHER

On her post on social media, Zelda shared two images of the bride and groom with one featuring herself as well. In her caption, she revealed that her father’s birth date had “meant many things to me over the years.”

She acknowledged the date as the birthday of Juno Temple, someone she called one of her “favorite souls.” Zelda also noted that it was also “the day Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon.”

According to her post, happened to be the “last day” she got to see her father before he died on August 11, 2014. Robin’s daughter noted that the date had become less joyous for her until her brother’s wedding.

HOW ROBIN DIED

She then went on to celebrate her new “sister” and congratulated the couple. Williams committed suicide at the age of 63 and his wife Susan Schneider attributed it to his struggle with Lewy body disease.

Ahead of his father’s fifth anniversary of his death, Zachary opened up about Robin’s struggle with mental health to Good Morning Britain. He shared: “It was sad to see someone who was suffering so. As a family member and a child, you want to do everything you can to help soothe and ease what seemed to be intense personal pain.”
