A$AP Rocky Charged with Assault after Sweden Street Brawl
US rapper A$AP Rocky has finally been charged with assault after almost a month of prosecutors investigating his involvement in a brawl in Stockholm last month.
According to CNN, Rocky’s lawyer, Slobodan Jovicic, maintains that his client was only defending himself after being assaulted and that the rapper is innocent. Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers – has been held in custody for over three weeks now, reportedly under inhumane conditions.

"We think it was self-defense, but the prosecutor has chosen to go with the injured party's version," Jovicic told the media outlet, adding that his client is "very disappointed" in the prosecutor’s decision.
Still To Come: Rocky’s mom, Renee Black, has also pleaded for her son’s release
In court documents seen by CNN, Swedish public prosecutor Daniel Suneson claims that Rocky, 30, and two other men assaulted the victim by kicking and beating him with a whole or part of a glass bottle.

The rapper and the other two men are now facing charges for their involvement in the fight and are expected to remain in custody until the trial which begins on Tuesday, July 30.
According to Suneson, he determined that Rocky’s actions constituted a crime after an investigation that involved reviewing video evidence and witness statements.
The prosecutor claimed he had access to footage beyond what has been circulated online thus far and that several witnesses corroborated the alleged victim’s claims.
In initial footage of the incident published by TMZ, Rocky is seen hurling a man across the street before other members of his crew pounce on the alleged victim.
In a subsequent video published by the rapper himself here (Warning: The hyperlinked video contains some form of violence), it turns out the man Rocky beat up was previously harassing the rapper and his team, stalking them and even going as far as launching a physical attack.
Suneson confirmed that two men were injured in the party, but Rocky and the other men are being tried based on the allegations of one as the other person’s claims were dropped for insufficient evidence.
Meanwhile, Rocky’s arrest and continued detention have attracted the attention of many in the music industry who have been calling for his release.
President Donald Trump also recently waded into the matter, tweeting a few days ago that he’s been in talks with the Swedish Prime Minister and offered to “personally vouch for his bail or an alternative.”
Rocky’s mom, Renee Black, has also pleaded for her son’s release, revealing that the rapper "isn't really eating properly."
"I'm pleading; I hope that they let my son home. I really do," she said.
