Catherine Bach of 'Dukes of Hazzard' Gets Emotional Speaking about Her Husband Peter Lopez's Death
Catherine Bach, the actress best known for playing Daisy Duke in the 80s TV show “Dukes of Hazzard,” opened up about the death of Peter Lopez, her husband.
Lopez, an entertainment lawyer whose most famous client was Michael Jackson, was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in California on April 30, 2010. He was 60 years old.
Peter Lopez’s Suicide
Lopez was Bach’s second husband. They tied the knot in August 1990 and had two daughters together. During an interview the actress had with Fox News, she pointed out that her faith was what helped her cope with the situation.
Bach added that it was the first time she felt overwhelmed as Lopez’s suicide was very sudden.
“I always thought, ‘Well gosh, I’m so happy. I am so blessed with my family and a man that I love so much. What problems? I have no problems. I’m able to stay home with our kids. He makes a good living; he was a lawyer. This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.’ And then all of a sudden it was just gone,” pointed out Bach.
Facing Her Grief through Faith
Not everyone faces grief in the same way, and the “Dukes of Hazzard” star knows it. She is aware that some people struggle with alcohol and drugs to overcome their pain, but her faith and her children were essential in her healing process.
“I prayed a lot. I went to church a lot. I’m Catholic. I stayed very close to my priest who I really trust… It’s what kept me alive. And therapy. There is a lot of grief group therapy,” added Bach.
The actress even shared a piece of advice with people going through a painful experience similar to hers. She urged them to take a break and be around those willing to listen to them. “I think it’s really important to have the company of people who mean the most to you,” she added.
Bach Is Not Mad at Lopez
Even though some people could feel disappointed if a loved one kills themselves, the actress made it clear that she loves Lopez so much that she cannot get mad at him. Apart from that, Bach said that her late husband never showed a sign that alerted her of his fate.
Thankfully, Bach did her best to stay strong for her two daughters, Sophia and Laura, who inherited her beauty and have been attracting a lot of attention lately with their posts on social media.
While it is unclear what both young ladies have been doing lately, it is very likely for them to follow in their mother’s footsteps and pursue a modeling or acting career.
