Watch Lamar Odom & New Lady Sabrina Parr Talk about Dating Amid Fake Relationship Rumors
For the first time, Lamar Odom and his new girlfriend, Sabrina Parr sat down for a joint interview revealing what brought them to each other and why Sabrina gave him a chance.
Lamar Odom is on cloud nine these days, thanks to his new lady love, Sabrina Parr. In spite of rumors their relationship was “fake,” the couple recently proved otherwise.
INTRODUCING HIS "NEW WOMAN" TO THE WORLD
On August 2, Lamar publicized his new romance on Instagram with a photo of him and Sabrina and the caption, “What we have is much more than they can see.” In a succeeding post, he described his loved up feelings through a quote from Malcolm X and in a later post referred to her as his “NEW WOMAN.”
Shortly after his declarations, news spread that the relationship was fake. Neither parties addressed the rumors but a recent interview was enough proof that their romance is real.
“I wasn’t attracted to the pain and the drama. You have to meet people where they are…He was never in a position to be someone’s husband, you know?
"THE TRUTH" ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP
The couple sat down with Gary Hayes on “Dish Nation” and candidly answered questions about their much-talked-about love life. “It’s the truth,” Lamar said of his relationship with the 32-year-old fitness trainer.
Previously married to Khloe Kardashian, the basketball star also revealed that what makes his new relationship different is the fact that Sabrina is Black.
“When a black woman comes along, ain’t playing,” Gary suggested. Sabrina affirmed this by injecting, “Oh no, I was not playing at all.”
“Yeah, she keeps it real,” Lamar agreed.
WHY SABRINA PURSUED LAMAR
At one point during the interview, Sabrina was asked about her reasons for giving Lamar a chance in spite of his publicized, troubled past.
Before she could reply, Lamar offered, “Sometimes pain, I think, attracts women. The pain I’ve been through.”
But Sabrina disagreed.
“That wasn’t my story,” she countered. “I wasn’t attracted to the pain and the drama. You have to meet people where they are…He was never in a position to be someone’s husband, you know? He was sick, he needed to heal, he needed to grieve. He experienced a lot of losses. And he never had time to go through that.”
Lamar’s painful past was detailed in his recent bestselling book, “Darkness to Light: A Memoir.” According to the 39-year-old, it served as his “therapy session.”
The life coach added that she felt like she had the mindset and skills to help Lamar.
“A woman is a helpmate,” Sabrina said. “If I’m not helping him then I’m hurting him…Heal your mind and your heart first and then let’s see what you can become.”
With Sabrina speaking like a true life coach, her boyfriend gushed, “She’s incredible.”
LAMAR'S PAST IN PAGES
Lamar’s painful past was detailed in his recent bestselling book, “Darkness to Light: A Memoir.” According to the 39-year-old, it served as his “therapy session.”
The book which covers his life’s story features his struggles with drugs and alcohol, sex addiction, and even his four-year marriage to Khloe which began in 2009.
Their divorce was finalized much later in 2016 after Lamar suffered a near-fatal drug overdose which left him in a hospital for months.
Though they were separated, Khloe took care of him and became his legal guardian at the time. The ex-spouses remain supportive of each other to this day.
ON MOVING ON
With his past with Khloe way behind him now and Sabrina making him happy these days, Lamar declared, “I’ve definitely moved on.”
He also denied he was ever under the Kardashians’ spell. He did, however, credit the family for treating him right. “They always did right by me,” he said.
Lamar and Sabrina appear to be in a good place right now judging from that interview. His latest photo of the two of them wrapped in a tight embrace and kissing also spoke louder than his meaningful caption,
“I never thought I’d feel this way again... love you queen.”
It is good to see Lamar smiling and in love again. There is truly light after the darkness like he says in his book.
