Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Slammed for Using Private Jet after Urging Supporters to do 'Good'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face backlash after posting an inspirational quote in the midst of public criticisms of the environmental costs of a private jet they recently boarded.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revamped their Instagram page by deleting their followers in favor of promoting important social causes. They released a statement on Instagram explaining their aim; to use their platform for social awareness, saying:

"Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large."

Harry and Meghan have been known to bond over their love for wildlife and it is no surprise that they have given their support towards helping to address environmental issues. In July they focused on the environmental damage, sharing part of a quote from Harry, he says:

“Only now are we staring to notice and understand the damage that we’ve been causing. With nearly 7.7 billion people inhabiting this Earth, every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference.”

Speaking of footprints, the couple's latest vacation to Ibiza and the French Riviera, with their three-month-old son, Archie, left a significant carbon footprint.

According to Daily Mail, the two trips they took on a private jet are estimated to have had a carbon footprint of almost 7 tons combined. This is compared to the 13 tons accumulated by the average British traveler, every year.

Media has been critical of their use of a private jet. However, the young royals have not responded to the latest backlash. Their Instagram page simply featured an inspirational quote by anti-apartheid and human rights activist, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, it read:

"Do YOUR little bit of GOOD where YOU ARE; it's THOSE LITTLE BITS of good put TOGETHER that OVERWHELM the WORLD."

Followers on their page have spoken out to criticism the royal family for using an environmentally damaging means of travel.

Harry and Meghan also have many people supporting them and coming to their defense. Celebrity friends such as Ellen DeGeneres, Pink, and Elton John have taken to social media to speak out against all the backlash.

Despite the backlash surrounding the use of a private jet, the couple still has many engagements across the world that they will need to attend to.

PEOPLE reports, the couple will join Queen Elizabeth for holiday at Balmoral Castle. Harry and Meghan are also scheduled to make their first official international engagement when they travel to Africa.
