Rihanna is deeply concerned for the people of Bahamas who recently suffered the most devastating hurricane in their nation’s history.

THE WRATH OF HURRICANE DORIAN

Hurricane Dorian unleashed its wrath over the northern part of the Caribbean nation killing seven to date and damaging over 13,000 homes, according to CNN.

Aerial clips shared by the news outlet reveal the devastation on the islands of Great Bahamas and Abaco which are now littered with debris and drowning in water.

"You can't tell that there are any homes there. It looks like a bunch of building materials were put in a big grinder and thrown on the ground," said Brandon Clement who saw the damage first hand from a helicopter hovering the island.

RIHANNA'S RESPONSE

In response to the news, Rihanna vowed to help through her charity, Clara Lionel Foundation. Through a series of tweets, she expressed her heartbreak and intention to help.

“It truly breaks my heart to see the complete devastation that #HurricaneDorian is having on the Bahamas!” her first tweet read on September 3.

A few minutes later, she added,

“You are in our prayers and @ClaraLionelFdn is already figuring out how best we can help! #HurricaneDorian #Bahamas.”

In 2017, due to her efforts, Harvard University presented her with its Humanitarian of the Year Award. It acknowledged her work towards hurricane relief as well as in supporting the enrichment of education and health care in the Caribbean.

A SINGER WITH A BIG HEART

A native of nearby Barbados, the 31-year-old superstar’s generous heart prompted her to establish her foundation back in 2012. Named after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite, the initiative has already helped other typhoon victims including those affected by 2013’s Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and 2017’s Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Rihanna’s concern for others is not only limited to typhoons and the Caribbean. She has many times in the past, shown her compassion for people suffering from illness such as her cancer-stricken fan and those who are victims of racial prejudice such as singer SZA recently.

It is no surprise then that she would be one of the first celebrities to respond to the devastation of Bahamas and offer to help. What a truly inspiring woman she is.
