Salma Hayek from 'Frida' Celebrated Her 53rd B-Day, Singing a Mexican Song with Her Amazing Voice
Salma Hayek celebrates her culture with a Mexican themed party for her 53rd birthday.
If there’s anything we know about Latin American culture is that any celebration is guaranteed to have great food, good music, and as Salma Hayek put it in her birthday post, “lots of tequila!” Just in time for her birthday, she has released her own brand of Mexican tequila, "Tequila Herederos."
The star of "Frida" always been proud about ageing gracefully. Recently, she enjoyed her 53rd birthday celebration in London with her close family and friends. Sharing a video from the party, she sings a Mexican folk song, "La Llorona." In a caption from the night she writes:
"What a better way to celebrate my birthday, than with family, friends, good weather in London, with an all female Mariachi band, lots of tequila, wine, delicious food, love, dancing and singing badly in memory of #fridakhalo and #chavelavargas."
According to HOLA, when translated the song means "The Cryer" or "The Weeping Woman." Belting out the lyrics for a song that has a sad tale, Hayek and the all-female mariachi band manage to give it a fresh and uplifting vibe.
Adding more entertainment to the night, Hayek’s husband Francois-Henri Pinault takes the lead with another Mexican tradition; smashing a cake into the birthday lady's face. Sharing the special moment, she explains:
"I love this Mexican tradition, but the best part is the kiss. Merci mi amor... you're the best."
Yelling "mordida," which translates to "bite," Pinault gently shoves Hayek’s face into a heavily creamed cake. Taking a huge bite in her mouth, she ends the Mexican tradition with a huge kiss from her husband.
