NFL Star Chris Smith's Tribute to Girlfriend Petara Cordero Who Died in a Cleveland Car Accident

NFL player Chris Smith shares a heartbreaking tribute to his girlfriend following her tragic death in a car accident just a couple of weeks after giving birth to their first child.

Cleveland Browns defender Chris Smith is heartbroken over the loss of his girlfriend, Petara Cordero, who passed away due to a car accident just a couple of weeks after giving birth to their first child.

Now, the athlete shares a heartbreaking tribute to his girlfriend whom he hopes will rest in peace.

On the caption of his post which featured numerous photos of the couple doing various things together, he said:

"God has a plan for all of us we can't understand but she is in a better place now and she can rest easy. My wifey, my best friend, and the mother of my beautiful daughter. Love you baby #StayStrong #RIPMyLove"

The Preceding Car Accident

The accident occurred while Smith was driving his Lamborghini along I-90 West in Cleveland with Cordero when his tire burst, causing his vehicle to spin and hit a median.

While they did not obtain injuries from that accident, something surprising and tragic happened.

The driver of the other car, Tracy McIvor, revealed she had something to drink before driving and is ready to face charges.

The Tragic Incident

When Cordero stepped out of the vehicle, an oncoming 2017 Mazda 3 hit her before she could join Chris who was standing on the north shoulder of the I-90 westbound.

Cordero was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but sadly passed away soon after due to the extent of her injuries.

On Their Newborn Daughter

Before the tragic accident, Cordero and Smith just celebrated the birth of their daughter, Haven Harris, whom they called a "beautiful gift" to their small family.

"I'm so thankful to have another beautiful girl in this world. My daughter Haven Harris Smith. You are such a blessing to me and your mother!! Love you Petara and Baby Haven"

Justice for Petara

The driver of the other car, Tracy McIvor, revealed she had something to drink before driving and is ready to face charges following the results of toxicology reports that will confirm her intoxication.
