Supremes Singer Mary Wilson Becomes First Celebrity Contestant to Be Eliminated from DWTS Season 28
Celebrity contestant, Mary Wilson, was the first among the 12 contenders to be eliminated from "Dancing With The Stars'" season 28, after being in the bottom two with Ray Lewis and Cheryl Burke.
During Monday night's episode, the hit dancing competition series, "Dancing With The Stars" bid farewell to their first celebrity contender for season 28. The Supremes' Mary Wilson and her pro-dancer partner Brandon Armstrong were the first among the 12 to be eliminated.
The pair performed their second dance before the three judges, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman, as well as the audience, not knowing it would be their last. As the two-hour liver performance neared its end, the bottom two contestants were revealed.
Close to being eliminated with Wilson were Ray Lewis and his pro-dancer partner, Cheryl Burke. However, majority votes from the judges, Inaba and Goodman, chose Wilson to stay and compete further.
The 75-year-old vocalist garnered a score of 15/30 from their cha cha performance, while Lewis earned the same score, 15/30, based on their foxtrot dance. Unfortunately, only one pair could take the spot to move on.
"If I'm totally honest, neither one of these couples should be in this position," said Goodman. "However, they are, and it's very difficult because one, I want to judge from my heart; the other, I have to judge with my brain. And my brain says I've got to save Ray and Cheryl."
The pair with the highest score for the recent performance was "The Bachelorette's" Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten, who copped a 24 out of 30. Her Viennese waltz was a win for both the judges and the audience, who cast their live votes then.
"You whisked me away to another world, only with the movement. Were you holding out on us last week?" Inaba commented. "You had lovely musicality through your arms," Goodman added. "Best dance of the night."
Among the other contestants on the show are Lamar Odom and Peta Murgatroyd, Sean Spicer and Lindsay Arnold, Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Val Chmerkovskiy, Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko, Karamo and Jenna Johnson, and Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber.
Stars, James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater, Kel Mitchell and Whitney Carson, and Kate Flannery and Pasha Pashkov are on the show as well. The show revealed season 28's cast later than usual due to the unfortunate shootings that happened on the weekend of its initial release.
