Cuba Gooding Jr. Charged with Third Groping Accusation after a Dozen Similar Complaints

Prosecutors expanded the criminal chargest against Cuba Gooding Jr. last week after another woman came forward accusing him of sexual assault. This marks the third time someone has claimed the actor was sexually abusive while out partying.

A new charge was placed against Cuba Gooding Jr., after a woman came forward and claims the actor touched her inappropriately on September 9, 2018, at around 11:15 PM at Lavo, an Italian restaurant that has an indoor nightclub.

Now that more women are coming forward against the actor, many are waiting to see whether or not his current charges in New York will end up dropped like the case in Los Angeles, or if Gooding will have to serve jail time for what he has allegedly done.

Gooding's Previous Court Charges

Prior to this new charge, other sexual assault charges were filed against him after he grabbed a woman's chest at a rooftop bar near Times Square in June 2018, and allegedly touching a woman who served him at a nightclub in October of the same year.

Aside from the official charges placed, the assistant district attorney of Manhattan Jenna Long claims there are several additional witnesses that are willing to come forward in case they go to trial.

Pleading Not Guilty

Despite all the accusations against him, Gooding, 51, has pleaded not guilty to every single one of them. He even turned himself into the Manhattan district attorney's office after receiving the new charge.

His new charge, forcible touching, and third-degree sexual abuse are identical to the other two that he faced. The maximum penalty for each is a year in prison.

Acquittal of Charges Against Gooding

Prior to this third charge, Gooding's previous case of groping a woman at a party in Los Angeles was dropped after prosecutors could not find enough evidence to charge the actor with a crime.

After the investigation made by the LAPD was inconclusive, the case was forwarded to the LA City Attorney for misdemeanor sexual battery. However, the City Attorney rejected the case because of a lack of evidence.

Awaiting Trial for Other Cases

Despite being cleared of the charges in LA, he still faces a 4-count indictment in New York, including one count of forcible touching and one of sexual abuse in the third degree, which are both misdemeanors.
