Kaitlynn Carter Opens up about Her Romance with Miley Cyrus in an Honest Essay for Elle

Kaitlynn Carter is getting candid about her relationship with Miley Cyrus in a heartfelt personal essay.

Many might have described Kaitlynn Carter and Miley Cyrus’ relationship as just a fling, but to the reality star, it was much more.

For the first time, Kaitlynn is opening up about her whirlwind romance with the “Hannah Montana” star and spilling all the details.

In a personal essay written in the first person for ELLE Magazine, “The Hills” Star shed more light on how she fell for Miley after her split from Brody Jenner.

Talking about their controversial Italy vacation, Kaitlynn wrote:

“This past July, I went on vacation with a female friend; the next thing I knew, I was in love with her. It wasn’t quite that simple, of course. But it also wasn’t very complicated, either.”

She continued explaining that she had never thought she could fall in love with a woman until the trip happened.

Kaitlynn recalled that while she and Miley vacationed around Europe to get over their own breakups, they connected on a level beyond the normal.

Referencing a previous relationship she had with an older man which she touched in the essay, Kaitlynn confessed:

“I fell just as hard for her as I had the older man so many years before. It was that same familiar force of nature; I didn’t have to think about a thing or overanalyze. It just happened, and it felt exactly right.”

The 31-year-old reflected on her three-year-long friendship with Miley and admitted that she had always “been drawn” to the “Slide Away” crooner in a way she wasn’t to her other friends.

Regardless of the fleeting nature of their relationship, Kaitlynn saw it as something deeper and more meaningful and not merely a “summer fling” or a “same-sex affair.”

She also revealed that she was “grateful” for the relationship that helped open up her eyes to the unexplored part of herself and described it as “a profound journey of self-discovery.”

Kaitlynn and Miley made the headlines when they were spotted kissing in Italy back in August just days after Miley announced her split from Liam Hemsworth, PEOPLE reports.

Barely a month after being together, Miley and Kaitlynn split in September, after which the singer moved on to pop singer Cody Simpson.

As reported by PopCulture, Kaitlynn might have taken the split quite seriously as she shared a sweet photo of herself with a cryptic message that read:

“THAT WAS WAY HARSH”

However, Hollywood Life reports that Kaitlynn is focused on herself and hanging out with her friends.
