Tia Mowry has bounced back big time. The mother-of-two recently revealed she lost almost 60 lbs of her post-pregnancy weight and likewise overcame her postpartum depression.

The journey to where she is right now was a long one, Tia says in an episode of her YouTube channel, “Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix.” Fed up with people judging her weight and calling her “fat” both during and after her pregnancy, Tia focused on herself and gave herself enough time to recover.

“Everybody has a different journey,” Tia tells her audience reminding them that it’s ok to pace themselves. “I just want people to understand that they don’t have to have that snapback body two months after having a baby.”

ON OVERCOMING HER POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

Tia gave birth to her daughter, Cairo in May 2018. Along with her excess weight, she went through post-partum depression. She admitted to Romper earlier this month that she was ashamed because she felt deep sadness and anxiety, a fact she didn’t want her doctor to know so she lied about it and didn’t have herself diagnosed.

She also told her channel’s viewers she felt “heavier” because her depression was compounded by her lack of sleep and exhaustion.

Eventually, she opened up about it to her husband, Cory Hardrict and sister, Tamera Mowry who understood what she was going through because it happened to her too. After five to six months, Tia snapped out of it. Work helped her get over the stage, she confessed.

ON LOSING HER PREGNANCY WEIGHT

Tia also had to deal with losing her weight and that took longer. She said in an update last month that it’s been 17 months from the time she got pregnant. She used her experience to educate her followers about the importance of loving oneself in spite of the pressures of society.

During her first pregnancy, Tia admits she succumbed to the pressure and tried to lose weight fast. With her second child, she learned her lesson.

“This time around with Cairo, I said to hell with that,” Tia says in her YouTube video called "How I Got My Body Back After Baby 2." “I said, ‘you know what, this is me, this is who I am, and you know, I’m gonna embrace it…I’m gonna lose weight and get back to, you know, how I was before when I want to, not when somebody else tells me to.”

Tia shared clips of her weight-loss journey which involved hiring a trainer and exercising intently. She also ate healthy and avoided partying. She bared her vulnerability and admitted it was hard. But she persevered in her own time and now she’s close to losing all 60 lbs she gained during her pregnancy.

ON FEELING LIKE A "SUPERMOM"

Tia thanks her husband for his support as well as the village that helped her get through her journey. “Now I just feel so strong and that’s what matters to me,” she says. She later adds tearfully,

“I’m pretty damn proud of myself. I worked really hard and not only did I lose weight, I breastfed my daughter for 13 months, I have a beautiful daughter…I worked on a television show…I shot “Quick Fix” videos…I think I’m crying because I’ve learned that I am bad[expletive], I’m a supermom.”

We hear you Tia and we’re so proud of what you’ve accomplished. It’s an inspiring story and one that many women can surely relate to.
