Nicki Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj may face up to life in prison when he is sentenced this month. He was convicted of sexually assaulting his 11-year-old daughter repeatedly.

Two years ago, Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj was convicted for the alleged rape of a child. In spite of pleas to turn over his conviction, a judge ruled to proceed with his sentencing. According to Bossip, Maraj will be sentenced this month.

Maraj, who was arrested in 2015, has since denied claims of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter and blamed it on her mother. He suggested his ex-wife plotted the story in order to extort $25 million from him through his famous sister.

On December 18, Maraj is set to face a judge at the Nassau County Supreme Court and be sentenced for his alleged repeated sexual assault of his 11-year-old stepdaughter. He was found guilty in November 2017 after the child testified that he assaulted her, at most, four times a week, when his relationship with her mother began to sour.

Moreover, according to a report by Rolling Out, the girl’s 10-year-old brother revealed in court that he witnessed the abuse. He claimed to have heard his sister’s bed squeaking at night. His sister’s room was next to his.

On one occasion, he detailed actually seeing his sister with her panties down and Maraj’s underwear around his knees when he stormed into her room to get a pencil. He said he ran out but was later threatened and slapped 10 times in the face by Maraj who warned him that he would never see his mother again if he told anyone.

Maraj, who was arrested in 2015, has since denied claims of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter and blamed it on her mother. He suggested his ex-wife plotted the story in order to extort $25 million from him through his famous sister. He also called for a mistrial claiming jury misconduct but the judge denied this.

Maraj’s mother, Carol Maraj expressed her disbelief after the judge ruled against a mistrial. She claimed the jurors admitted being swayed by social media which should account as misconduct on their part. Meanwhile, Minaj remained mum and did not appear on any of the trials.

Maraj’s guilt was further substantiated by physical evidence discovered on his victim’s pajamas. His DNA was reportedly on the semen that stained the sleepwear. During his sentencing, he may face life in prison, reports suggest. It has not been established if the two years he has served during his trial will be counted in his sentence.
