Ashanti Says She Hasn't Seen Ex Nelly since Their Decade-Long Relationship Ended in 2013

Singer Ashanti revealed to fans that she is a pro when it comes to moving on from her past relationships as she disclosed that she has had no contact with ex, Nelly, since their 2013 break-up.

Despite having been together for a decade, Ashanti and Nelly's romantic affair came to a halt in 2013.

During the period they were together, the pair was well known for keeping the relationship under wraps, and even acted like they had nothing serious going on.

However, it has been years from that private break-up, and fans got a peek into what ensued between Ashanti and her former partner as she appeared on the TV show, Watch What Happens Live a few days back.

According to MADAMENOIRE, the 38-year-old revealed that she had not seen Nelly since they broke up years ago after being questioned by a fan on the show. The fan, who asked if Ashanti's relationship was good following their split got a reply which read:

"You know what? I honestly haven't seen him since we broke up, which is crazy."

Although it may be hard to believe, this statement should not come as much of a surprise to admirers as the pair didn't end on best terms.

A 2018 public performance, as reported by BET, saw Ashanti give an affirmative reply to a fan who cursed Nelly.

Also, an old interview with The Meredith Vieira Show, as published by US MAGAZINE, revealed how much of a toll the split took on the singer.

There, Ashanti mentioned that she had been betrayed and that she was at a different place after urging self-awareness.

In Ashanti's words:

"I think it is really important to know yourself and understand what you want and get it. I'm in a different place right now."

It's a wonderful thing Ashanti has moved on, however. Plus, it appears she is doing great.

A proof of this is a previous social media post which saw fans laud her stunning appearance as she appeared at the premiere of VH1's "Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms on May 6", as reported by ATLANTA BLACK STAR.

The outlet also revealed that some admirers went as far as faulting her ex, Nelly, for letting her "get away."

Although there's no pointer that the pair would meet again soon, fans would love to see a change.
