Keyshia Cole Shares Photo with Her Family and Reveals Mom Checked Herself into Treatment Facility for Drug Addiction

Keyshia Cole hopes this time will be different for her mother, Frankie Lons who solely decided to check herself into rehab after years of struggling with drug addiction.

Keyshia Cole is hopeful that recent events in her family life will result in a happier 2020. The singer took to her Instagram this week to reveal her mother’s decision to check herself into a facility.

Cole’s mother, Francine “Frankie” Lons has been battling drug addiction for years and in spite of several rehab stints, she would often slip and relapse. This time around, her daughter is optimistic that with her own initiative, it would achieve better results.

THEIR STRAINED RELATIONSHIP

Cole grew up with a strained relationship with her mother who was forced to give her up for adoption due to her addiction. Through the years, they had their ups and downs because of Lons’ unsuccessful attempts at rehab.

While Cole’s family life is complicated and exacerbated by her rift with her biological sister, she finds comfort in the love she generates from her own children.

In August, Cole revealed her heartbreak when her mother relapsed again. She disclosed that Lons went back to the streets where she would rather be and expressed how much she missed her. She also enlightened fans on the pain of watching a family member struggling with addiction.

HANGING ON TO FRESH HOPE

But yesterday, Cole was in a positive mood when she announced her mother’s decision to check herself into a rehab facility. She shared a photo with Lons and her children and wrote,

“My day today. happy YOU DECIDED ON YOUR OWN, to check YOURSELF INTO a facility to get treatment.”

Cole went on to say that it’s been only two weeks but she’s “hopeful and optimistic” that this time will be different. “This being what YOU WANTED AND NO ONE ELSE........ Maybe this is the YEAR IN ALL ASPECTS !!!!! GREATNESS #Mom.”

THE QUESTION OF HER PATERNITY

Cole previously guested Lons on her new talk show, “One on One with Keyshia Cole” where they argued over who her biological father really was. She grew up believing she was of mixed descent but Lons took this back during her interview.

Cole revealed to her audience that as a child, she tracked down her alleged father who was supposed to be a restaurant owner. Her mother told her he was in Los Angeles but didn’t find him there.

FINDING LOVE IN HER CHILDREN

While Cole’s family life is complicated and exacerbated by her rift with her biological sister, she finds comfort in the love she generates from her own children.

The mother-of-two who welcomed a son with her boyfriend, Niko Khale in August admitted she found the love she was searching for all her life in her two boys. Cole also has an older son, Daniel Gibson, Jr. with her estranged husband, Daniel Gibson.

Cole is also grateful to have Khale to share her life with. “I think now I’ve really found someone who shares my views,” she said in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked.
