Back in 1997, when Tate put up a sterling performance in "Love Jones," as Darius Lovehall, a young black man in love, this seemed to be his breakout role.

According to ESSENCE, the movie, Larenz was a significant character alongside Nia Long. The film was a blockbuster because it was an avant-garde romance story.

This is so because the movie was released at a time when it was rare to see black people being in love and vulnerable in movies.

This notion was according to Larenz Tate when he spoke with the news publication. Now, fans are pining for a sequel of the film.
