Beyond Music: 2 Characters Wiz Khalifa Voiced, a TV Role He Played, and His Ultimate Acting Dream
From animated comedies to unconventional fantasy roles, the rapper has voiced and played a surprising range of characters across television. And while those appearances showcased his versatility, he revealed several years ago that he still had his sights set on an even bigger opportunity.
Most people know Wiz Khalifa as a chart-topping rapper, entrepreneur, and founder of Taylor Gang. Over the years, however, he has quietly built another part of his entertainment resume that extends far beyond the recording studio.

1. Mr. Mitch in 'Duncanville'
One of Khalifa's most recognizable voice acting roles came in Fox's animated comedy "Duncanville." Co-created by Amy Poehler, Mike Scully, and Julie Scully, the series followed Duncan, an ordinary teenager whose imagination often transformed everyday situations into larger-than-life adventures.
The show explored family life, adolescence, friendships, and the awkward realities of growing up. The rapper voiced Mr. Mitch, one of the most popular figures at Duncan's school.

Few acting opportunities are as unusual as playing Death itself. In Apple TV+'s "Dickinson," Khalifa took on exactly that challenge.
Thanks to budget constraints, Mr. Mitch wore several hats, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor, gym coach, and even school nurse when needed. But what made the character stand out was his effortless popularity.

Mr. Mitch was widely admired by students and carried a relaxed, approachable personality that often made him the coolest adult in the room. The role became an increasingly important part of the series.
After initially appearing in the show's first season, Khalifa was promoted to a series regular for Season 2, cementing Mr. Mitch as one of "Duncanville's" recurring fan favorites.
2. Death in 'Dickinson'
Few acting opportunities are as unusual as playing Death itself. In Apple TV+'s "Dickinson," Khalifa took on exactly that challenge.
The series starred Hailee Steinfeld as famed poet Emily Dickinson and offered a modern interpretation of her life, blending historical settings with contemporary music, humor, and cultural references.

Khalifa's next animated appearance arrived in Disney Channel's "Big City Greens."
Rather than presenting a traditional period drama, the show embraced an intentionally unconventional style that fused elements of poetry, hip-hop, and coming-of-age storytelling. Within that world, the rapper portrayed the physical embodiment of Death.

The casting choice immediately stood out because it subverted expectations. Instead of depicting Death as a terrifying or ominous figure, the series introduced the character through Khalifa's laid-back presence and distinctive personality.
The result became one of the show's most talked-about creative decisions and demonstrated how effective unexpected casting choices can be when they fit a project's unique tone.
3. Frilled Lizard in 'Big City Greens'
Khalifa's next animated appearance arrived in Disney Channel's "Big City Greens." Created by brothers Chris and Shane Houghton, the series follows the Green family as they leave their rural farm behind and adjust to life in a bustling city.
Known for its energetic humor and family-friendly storytelling, the show has become one of Disney's most successful animated programs. In a 2022 episode titled "Rembo," Khalifa guest-starred as a Frilled Lizard.

Although the role was brief, the character played an important part in the episode's story. The Frilled Lizard offered encouragement to Remy when he found himself facing a dangerous situation and struggling with fear.
The appearance added another animated credit to Khalifa's growing resume and allowed him to bring his signature calm delivery to a character designed to offer guidance and confidence.
The Voice Acting Role Wiz Khalifa Still Wants
Despite already voicing a beloved educator, a philosophical version of Death, and a motivational reptile, Khalifa once made it clear that his dream role remains unfulfilled.
During a 2018 appearance on "Hot Ones," host Sean Evans pointed to the rapper's growing list of voice acting credits, including appearances on shows such as "BoJack Horseman" and "American Dad!" That's when the host asked about the future. Khalifa didn't hesitate, stating:
"My dream gig is to have, like, a Disney movie, like a whole [expletive] movie with my voice behind it."

Rather than focusing on a specific character type, the rapper explained that he simply wanted to be part of a major animated film. "I could be support. I could be the homie. I want to be in a whole movie," he added.
Naturally, Evans couldn't resist asking for a sample performance after Khalifa had spent the interview eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. The rapper responded with a joke, insisting, "It's going to sound just like this. It's very clear now. I got the pepper and [expletive] like that, so we good."

Although he delivered the answer with his trademark humor, the ambition itself was genuine. Given his growing collection of voice acting credits and comfort in animated projects, a feature-length animated film may be one of the few entertainment milestones still left on his checklist.
Until then, fans can revisit the teacher, the lizard, and even Death himself while waiting to see whether Wiz Khalifa eventually lands the Disney role he's been dreaming about.
