Salma Hayek Reveals She Spilled Water on Eminem before Impulsively Hugging Him Backstage at 2020 Oscars
Salma Hayek is not only capable of getting star-struck like the rest of us, but she's even prone to klutziness. Case in point, throwing water all over rapper Eminem at the Oscars.
Hayek, 53, shared an Instagram post detailing the incident involving her, rapper Eminem, and, luckily, a glass of water. The funny yet sweet post is found below.
Meeting rapper Eminem
The "Frida" star shared three photos alongside a lengthy caption describing her meeting with Eminem. In the first slide, the two stars are looking at each other with peculiar expressions.
Hayek detailed in her caption that as she was "getting ready to walk onstage, [she] was so shocked to see [Eminem] that [she] spilled water all over him."
She explained that her expression showed how mortified she was while Eminem's showed terror. To make matters worse, Hayek then hugged the rapper on impulse and let him know she was a fan.
Eminem's sweet reaction
In the second picture, the two are facing a camera, and Hayek's arm is wrapped around Eminem's front. Again, the pair's expressions are pretty unrelaxed.
Hayek continued to explained that she had made a fool of herself until she saw a Rolling Stone article interview with Eminem. In the end, he said of the Oscars, "I got to hug Salma Hayek!"
Eminem also got to perform his Oscar-winning song "Lose Yourself" at the Academy Awards. The 2002 release and performance comes twenty years later but was well-received by the audience.

In these pictures it might look like @Eminem and I are best friends, but what really happened is as he was walking offstage and I was getting ready to walk onstage, I was so shocked to see him that I spilled water all over him. If you examine our faces, I look mortified and he looks terrified of me- As I was trying to wipe it off I impulsively hugged him and I said “Nice to meet you Eminem- I’m a HUGE fan!” because I AM! But I was so disappointed that I made such a fool of myself in front of him... and then I read this [swipe right] in @rollingstone. Eminem you’re the greatest!!! If you want to read the entire article with #Eminem please see my link in bio. Eminem eres grande!!! Missing the Oscar after-parties
After Hayek had her moment and before she found out that Eminem didn't fault her for the spill — quite the opposite — the "Desperado" actress encountered another challenge.
Unfortunately, Hayek was forced to miss the Oscar after-parties and instead rushed to the hospital when her manager Evelyn O'Neill had an accident. Hayek shared the incident via a tweet.
In the photo, the actress is dressed in a dazzling blue dress and O'Neill in a glittery black dress. The two were at the Cedars-Sinai hospital, where O'Neill had to get a cast.
As the parties were just getting started my date, friend, and manager, Evelyn O’Neill had a little accident, and I had to rush her to the ER where we spent the rest of the #Oscar night until the sun came up. pic.twitter.com/zcSWEsitBr— Salma Hayek (@salmahayek) February 11, 2020
Hayek's reaction to Vogue Proposal
Hayek's down-to-earth tendencies came to light once again last August when she revealed her reaction to a request for a Vogue feature. British royal Meghan Markle had hand-selected her.
At first, Hayek thought the whole thing was a joke when her friend Edward Enninful spoke to her and said he couldn't tell her who she'd be talking to. She believed it to be her model friend Naomi Campbell.

Instead, the Duchess of Sussex was patched through, and Hayek learned she would be on the cover of Vogue for her work helping out women. This time, Hayek had to keep the incident a secret for months.
