Lionel Richie Has 2 Beautiful Daughters and a Handsome Son — Meet the 'American Idol' Judge's Children

“American Idol” judge Lionel Richie is the proud father of three beautiful and highly successful children who are doing excellently well in their respective careers.

A new season of "American Idol" is set to start this February, and the excitement is energetic. The contestants and the judges are gearing up to give what will be the most electrifying season yet.

One of the judges is longtime sensational singer Lionel Richie. While Lionel is preparing to be a judge on the music talent show, meet his children who are also successful in their careers.

NICOLE RICHIE-MADDEN

The first of Lionel's children is his daughter Nicole Richie-Madden. The 38-year-old American television personality, fashion designer, author, and actress is the adopted daughter of Lionel and his first wife, Brenda Harvey. Speaking on her adoption, Lionel once said:

"So it took about maybe a year for me to just fall in love and she was a little button, and of course by that time I was Dad."

Nicole, whose biological parents, performers on tour, were having relationship issues before Lionel noticed her at a concert and decided to open his arms and heart to the then 4-year-old.

A few years after living together, Lionel chose to adopt Nicole, and this is a decision he has not regretted ever since.

MILES RICHIE

Lionel's second child is his complete look-alike and has a successful career as a model. Miles Richie was born in 1994 and is the only son and first biological child of Lionel and his second wife, Diane Alexander.

One thing he enjoys is embarrassing his children.

Miles seems to be the quiet of the bunch and is an acclaimed Mama's boy. The 24-year old who has a tattoo of Kylie Jenner's name on his fingers often says he tries to downplay his famous last name as he wants people to know him and recognize him for his work.

NOT SO LITTLE SOFIA

The baby of the house is none other than Sofia Richie. The 21-year-old is the second child of Lionel and his ex-wife Diane Alexander.

A star in her own right, Sofia seeks to earnestly follow in her father's footsteps by pursuing a career in music. Lionel once said that his advice to Sofia was:

"I wish you lots of failures, young."

HAPPY FATHER

Lionel gave this advice saying that he wanted Sofia to understand that success in Hollywood was not without failures. Sofia, who has been linked to Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian's ex-husband, has admitted that she is trying to find her footing in Hollywood.

Lionel is a dedicated father to all his children. The father and grandfather has been open about his parenting and admits that one thing he enjoys is embarrassing his children.

Although all his kids have been relatively good, Lionel had to deal with Nicole's phase of substance abuse that led her to rehab, where he happily joined to encourage her.

The 70-year-old father of three who has been married and divorced twice admits that marriage freaks him out, although he is still open to the idea of dating.

The Grammy Award winner is proud of his children and grandchildren and admits that of all his success, having his family was the pure cause of his happiness.
